Many on here done this , or maybe owned one or still do , definitely an investment car now since the big anni a few years back , just booked a drive at Heyford after talking to the owner of the u drive set up at flywheel festival !

Maybe pm Viper he rebuilt an absolute stonker - a blue one.
He runs a yellow one which is mechanically and structurally perfect but looks like a coal lorry inside just for fun with the purists, he will have a wealth of knowledge.

I had a Series 1 4.2 roadster, rebuilt to a very high standard with lots of Eagle upgrades. It was a great car but after having it restored, I fretted each time I took it out.

Before I bought that one, I looked at a few others and can confidently say that a tired E Type is a sluggish, waywood, horrible car but a well sorted one is still sublime. Sold it 6 years ago when we moved and wish I'd kept it! The amazing thing is, they ride far more like a modern car than their age would suggest.

I well remember looking at several early e types at the Nec classic car show before the 50th anni which were for sale and the prices now look scary !

I hope you mean "well" and not as rigid and unforgiving as an Audi - or the horid Cee-apostrophe-D - which seemed to do without any sort of ride quality all together.

Cars with big wheels and wide, low profile tyres don't have to have a poor, tyre noise rich, ride. It is all down to the suspension engineer....

If he/she has set the car up for German roads then life could be rough.
If he/she has set the car up for English roads then life can be good.

We have the Plus 8 and two modern German things. The Plus 8 has lower, 35 profile tyres than the Germans but rides better.
We recently took a Jaguar XE out, with the sport suspension and adaptive dampers.
Quite sublime, steering more like the Plus 8 than the Germans and quiet: no tyre noise. Unlike the BMW....

I has a Series 1 2+2 for about 5 years and absolutely loved it. It wasn't super smart or anything just very sound and useable. Used it virtually every weekend without any problems.

Parts are readily available and generally pretty reasonable (apart from body parts).

Great while moving but a heave to park! The wheels are a long way from the steering wheel. Only thing I added was a brake upgrade as the original brakes are from a pram.

The only reason I sold it was to buy a defender to tow my daughter's horse box. Otherwise I'd still have it - but not be a morgan owner.

Lovely cars, E-types. Easy classic to own and run, with lots pf parts and expertise available. They are getting expensive though. Good thing that, as I'm just in the process of selling my FHC. I'll soon be actively seeking thoughts and opinions here on the forum regarding prewar Morgans. I've loved the idea of a three wheeler since i was a teenager in the sixties.
