I know I may sound a bit "anal" but was thinking about how we will keep the car on the road in a few years time! Its not the major items but things like lights,door handles,etc in other words where Morgan raided the spares bins of other manufacturers who have now phased out the supply. I have raided a number of scrap yards for instance and have a collection of inner door handles following from members on here saying they are from Rover 400 models.I believe the front indicator lenses are from a Lexus? Could we say compile a list of where the items are sourced from and we have a collective store as the items are relatively cheap at the moment- the inner door handles were £1 each! I know we are not in MG territory but it could be an issue to keep the cars on the road! Have I got too much time on my hands !!!!!!

- I think it sounds like a sensible idea Taffy.

I had problems getting a replacement 'Bowden' cable for the door pull when the old one snapped a few months back.The cable itself is simple enough but the end fittings are different at each end and is an ( hard to replicate ) ,'L' shape at one of them.The universal solderless nipples are therefore no use if you attempt to make up your own replacement (I did !!).

None of the usual spares suppliers had them in stock;one was thinking of commissioning a batch of new ones....

Have you any idea whether the Rover 400 door cables were also used?

It proves , I think, that you are correct in your concern that some generic spares are slowly disappearing .....

I would be more than happy to source the bits myself when required,if we only knew where some of them came from.The lexus lights being one of many.I have the original steering set up where did that come from no more spares left at Morgan only the upgrade.

Is there anyone on Talk Morgan who have contacts at high levels in MMC who might assist on the identification of where all the parts were sourced from? Its not as though they are missing out on thousands of pounds worth of spares is it!

I'm with you on this one boys, it would be great to compile a list.
The indicator lamps are off a 99-2004 Chrysler 300, available on eBay in standard and clear. As far as I know no Lexus used them unless someone knows different? The front hubs/wheel bearings are off a VW truck, probably the LT van series.
Dunno about the power steering but the upgrade using the Mini pump is superior.
Yes most but not all interior handles are Rover 400. They are fragile so I tend to use the outside handle to open the door.
Rear lights are standard Lucas, most of the other blts like indicator stalks etc.
are BMW., headlights VW beetle, rear brake lining appear to be unique but easily relined.Tyre pressure sensors are BMW 5 series. My LCD display for the tyre pressure display is u/s due to someone's elbow. Fairy common problem and now NLA. Does anyone know where a batch could be made? Grille is standard item as trads. Keep the thread going!

The door handles on the later S1 were from a Mazda 323 I think

Are the seats made by Morgan ?

The ones in the S4 are. They get the frames made externally and upholster in house. That means that the seats will be repairable.. at a cost.

I find them VERY comfortable.

Elec window motors anyone?
