Small pennies off a well known auction site, but they look pretty darn cool I reckon, so hit the button & fitted them when they landed.

Unscrew the screw on top of the headlight pod & the light unit simply pulls forward from the top, and drops off the tang at the bottom. I'd been hunting a loud squeaking from the unit lately & found out where now -

A good brushing with a stiff toothbrush & some swift ACF-50 later, and a little TLC to prevent more of this..

Inside the light showed more fretting

Once the four spring clips had been released within the chrome rim, the light unit is free. Once the connector plugs were released, a comparison could be made.

Once the rim was lined up & replaced, the wires simply popped back on. The sidelight was a simple plug in to the LED lead from the unit, and Bingo.

The left hand first.

Finally, a really awkward lighting shot when both were done.

An easy peasy job, good quality headlight units plus some new bulbs complete the upgrade. Cuppa time, now.

Cheers!!

cheers

Looks like a good job done well. I am sure the squeak source will be useful for others to check.

Looks good, nice and bright shades

Where did you get them from and did you need to realign the headlights afterwards?

Bought from these fine people here - DRL Headlight Units

The bulbs I'd had in my goodies box for a wee while..

No re-alignment necessary providing you get the LED's level across the top. I simply measured up from the ground with a tape & twisted them a little within the chrome whilst they had just two of the four spring clips holding the unit in.

This will level the beam horizontally, and as you've not touched the big adjustment nut of the bowl, headlight vertical alignment doesn't change.

Been fancying these for a while .. though I have seen similar ones where the LED's form a complete circle rather than a half circle.
Not sure it matters , point is they are a big improvement , and and excellent mod.

With regard to alignment be careful. The ones I have are just undersize so when you fit them into the chrome ring, and tighten up, the unit can squeeze out slightly at one point and upset the alignment. I found this out at the MOT on the Roadster when one was a bit low. Examination of the unit showed that this was the reason.
To fix it I've stuck a length of soft neoprene around the inside of the chrome ring (not the outer decorative ring) and this centralises the lamp unit and stops it squeezing through in one place.

These are the same units that I mentioned in my post (entitled:- "DRL Headlights") a few weeks ago. I have also fitted these and I am very pleased with them.
They are very good quality and easy to fit and they will result in a significant reduction in current drain from the battery compared to running with dippled headlights all the time.
