A new rattle from the exhaust today revealed itself as a broken shock absorber bracket. When I see the thin material around the bolts I am not surprised.
Does anyone know if improved parts are available on the market?
This problem was addressed in the early 1990s by David Rutherford who produced a strengthened version with a three bolt fixing and an extra location that is welded to the end of the axle.
I welded a tab on the axle ends and drilled and tapped the lower shock absorber mounting so that it could be removed without cutting of the weld.

Geir, the off side broke after 57500 miles. I replaced it with the updated one which failed after 8200 miles. The original type on the near side failed after 59700 miles.
Contact Trond Bråthen and ask about his air suspension conversion. It prevents bottoming out of the rear suspension. The original brackets then take much less load and you will be able to pass speed bumps at the speed limit.
