I had a 2012 car - but would definitely buy a post Jan 14 car - one of the most exciting cars I have ever owned - almost as much fun as my bikes!!
So do not be put off!!!just make sure that all the mods are done.

"The cars are on par with any other Morgan now."
Possibly true, but not if you were an early adopter, the only hope of selling a 2012/13 model, for a price which doesn't reflect too much depreciation, is to someone who hasn't read these forums, of which there seem to be quite a few, in the business world it's called due diligence.
I don't think we would have minded so much if MMC had behaved fairly and in a gentlemanly manner.

In fairness MMC were very good to me.
Its just that after 15 times back to the factory I ran out of confidence, steam and enthusiasm.

I am sorry Steve (SBM) but I do not think that mentioning the likely resale value, is as you say "an off the cuff" comment.
Whenever I have bought a vehicle, the possible resale value has always played some part in the ultimate decision as to whether to buy it or not.
I know you have a 2014 car and I am pleased to hear that it is now performing OK for you despite the several problems that I know you had earlier on.
However, I am sure that there are many owners of the earlier cars who feel the same as I do, i.e having been part of an unpaid development team for MMC, we will lose out substantially when we eventually come to sell our early M3W's.

I empathise entirely with everyone who describes their early experiences as sour. It clearly should have been not only dealt with in a better manner, but also much quicker and with more clarity.
I don't mean to challenge anyone over these much aired facts. On the contrary, they have paved the way for the later adopters like me and I am very grateful for all the facts and information that has been shared so willingly on here!
It's not that long ago that the bump steer issues were completely denied, let alone solved..!!
An awful lot of water has passed under the bridge in a short time, and the positive to take away is that Morgan had to respond so much more quickly than at any time in the past. Not quick enough for so many, I agree.
My thoughts on re-sale values refer to the continuing belief that the cars are a nightmare to own which, build dates & modifications aside, is not the case.
It doesn't refer to your comments, Keith. I'm pretty sure I haven't your capacity for perseverance, or Neil, or the many people who I've met on here.
Morgan people are really genuine enthusiasts & arguably the factory doesn't deserve such loyal customers.
Steve

The fact there are now quite a few five speeders on the second-hand market appears to have depressed the values of two and three speeders, despite them having a quite different market. I'm looking at auction results and similar.
I don't really understand it since I would have thought the sort of person who wants a vintage or post vintage thoroughbred (pvt) would not have been in the market for a five speeder at all.
But, stand all this on its head, if you want a two or three speeder, now appears to be the time to buy. I've got my doubts vintage and pvt values will fall further.

So could I buy a 2014 model, put a few thousand miles on it each year, carry no parts, service it once a year and be trouble free?
I haven't kept up with all the issues in detail as I kind of gave up on the 3W.
Looking for another Morgan!

Cars that collect an early bad reputation struggle to lose them, even when the main issues are resolved. And from what I've read on these hallowed pages, while 2014 cars are clearly better in many ways, they're hardly 'unburstable'!
Doesn't seem to me that engine drive belt issues are fully resolved, not are the rear sprockets, exhausts still seem to break, bevel boxes still get hot, creaks and rattles still exist, etc. Hardly perfect!
And servicing costs of - typically - £500- £1000 for newish small cars with so many disposable parts like engine belts and rear sprockets, and exhaust mountings, do simply add to the cost of ownership.
Thank goodness for the smiles and waves and moments of pure joy that the little b*ggers can still offer. And I still believe all the issues will be resolved in time which is why I persevere.

I know an Aston Martin guy who´s car spends most of the year in a service station. Owning a fun/toy car one has to be able to afford it.
Annual service costs of £500- £1000 were quite common with my Honda Goldwings (mostly new tyres were required with each service)
