Just wonder if anyone has used/fitted the stainless steal door lock covers supplied by Heart of England, frankly the Morgan door mechanisms look naff to my eyes and with a view to further embellishments of Mister Mog I would like to do something better.

Also suspect my hinges are not great, right door seems to clonk about a bit, are replacement hinges in stainless a good idea?

Finally noticed last Sunday near door check strap screws had fallen out, suspect that holes now opened up and they will leave home again soon so anyone have a neat solution for this as well?

I don't really have a view on the lock covers or hinges, but have wondered about the covers for a while. If you get them do give us all your review!!

I do, however, have a view re the check straps. I have replaced them with the stainless versions from Librands http://www.librands.co.uk. I find them great as no longer do I get my shin bashed when the door closes of its own volition as I am getting in or out and SWMBO is much happier!!(always a consideration!!!) If your car does NOT have the scuttle roll bar - as mine is -- I modified the brackets so as to fit. Rob Wells said he was going to supply them as per my mod, but I'm not sure whether or not he does. Call him, he's a pleasant chap to talk to. If he can't supply you, PM me and I'll send you the photos etc so you can do it yourself, it's not difficult

I agree with Robbie ..the Librands stainless steel replacement check strap is easy to fit and makes getting in and out so much easier for an old codger like me.

I've got the Jophn Worral SS door lock covers on my +8. Easy to fit and look very smart.

Sorry, should have added: With the wobbly doors The first thing to check is whether it is the door hinge itslef, or more likely, loose door hinge screws. These can be tightened up by unscrewing one at a time and putting a small dowel (Aka match stick) in the hole and replacing the screw. If you want to make a job of it put a touch of epoxy on the match stick and a bit of candlewax on the screw.

My doors have dropped, the screws are as tight as a D.A. but still doors drop. So yesterday order SS hinges from Uncle Melvyn (Rutter)

Ordered the Librands check straps for now, as above next job to order the lock covers and check the hinges.

I don't know if this still applies to the modern sedan chairs, but on my old 4/4 there were going two bolts through the wood with nuts and the third was a wood screw. To stop the bolts eating through the wood with wobbliness as a result I fabricated a steel strip which runs the lenght of both hinges with holes for the bolts instead of the washers. The wood screw(s) was changed to nut and bolt. This of course was done on the car AND the door(s). Since then (40 years ago) I never had wobbly doors and the hinges are still the first - despite not beeing oiled sometimes for several years (the oil can is always out of reach when the thought arises that they could be in need).

RTA has slightly wobbly doors, but this is due to wear in hinges and mainly hinge pins - just another little job to do .
I keep a reasonably close eye on various bits being screwed into the wood frame - have a couple that hold the sidescreen mounts into place where the screws are loose - I've found matchsticks are too soft, so will be trying toothpicks and a dab of cascamite wood glue on one to see how that works out.
