No way was it ever worth £1m unless it had some special history - gross exageration by the paper. Even convertibles are half that normally

I'll wager a £1 it is
Someone will easily pay £1M for a silver DB5 in concours condition purely because of its James Bond provenance - it's the most famous car in the world

A quick google on "DB5 for sale" reveals:
2 on carandclassic.co.uk - at £650k and £485k
A convertible at Aston Workshop at £899.9k
One on Classic Driver at £625k

So, allowing for Journalistic licence (20% minimum) £1m is not far off.

Whatever its worth.. it makes me feel bad just looking at it. I hate seeing lovely cars like this in bad shape. Hope it gets rebuilt and glad the owners ok.

That's a shame, hope nobody hurt. I wonder what the Astra looked like?

My friend bought a DB5 Supperleggera 5 years ago for £14k and spent a healthy 6 figures having it restored to mint condition. Absolutely gorgeous car. He said last year that it is now insured for £500,000 and it rarely comes out for this reason.

and that is why in one way I'd love to own something like that but in another I am very glad I don't..

It's a lovely car, right enough, and I had always daydreamed about maybe one day owning a DB6 (4s and 5s being wildly beyond even my fevered imaginings),

But I have since given up such fanciful notions, having spoken to several people who, having driven them, confessed that they aren't actually that nice to drive, especially not in modern road conditions.

The sad thing is that the extreme values makes these cars a target for investors. They sit in air conditioned garages and never get used. We have a local example (made his money on care homes - says a great deal) who owns (at least):
2 Veyrons
1 Modern Roller convertible
1 DB5
2 Ferraris - including an Enzo

On the rare occasions we see one of these cars on the road, he is on his own in it. They are all beautiful cars but such under use verges on criminal neglect.

I bet that the Aston is being rebuilt. Windscreen is not broken, even the left door seems unhurt and the gaps around the door look pretty good to me.

Seeing prices in Classic Car mag between half and a mill.

Convertibles seem to be dearest pushing seven figures.
