So there has been a slow migration to GMail accounts. I've set one up for concours but so far have not bothered to switch it over.

Dave. Such limitations merely are an administrative problem that should be resolved.

Absolutely, mailbox sizes are irrelevant. At the very least, publish the @mscc.uk.com addresses and have them redirected to whatever the recipients want.

It would be nice to have a proper domain name too but the club seem to have missed the boat on that one.

Well done WW for raising this topic and thanks to Peter for his very open reply. Although a long-term MSCC member I don't really feel I gain much from the membership, probably as I don't attend the local centre's monthly meetings.

We are a member of another centre for historical reasons, but the distance precludes us attending monthly meetings there. So why do we remain in the MSCC, well I suppose we are supreme, optimists and keep hoping things will improve, and for the first time really with Peter as VP I think that real change will come. Let's give him the support to push things through so that we get a club more to our liking.

Peter well done so far, I think the website is key to starting the culture change so I hope it's an attractive product and develops traffic, both from members but more importantly non-members. grin2

The use of an @gmail.com account is unprofessional but happened because time overtook the old e-mail, it became a spam recipient.

I feel that migrating the lot to Google Apps, which costs little is the way to go. It maintains the mscc.co.uk domain and give many additional advantages.

With the new web site much will be possible:watch this space. It could even include an e-magazine.... ooo

The club has, and pays for, hosting, which I am sure includes email hosting. Your email should be vicechair@mscc.uk.com and the same applies to membership, and all the other permanent positions. When there is a change in the official a simple change in the password should be all that is necessary to maintain confidentiallity. In extreme cases the email address can always be changed.

You can set gmail to pick up email from other POP3 providers easily enough. I'll not comment otherwise since I stopped my membership.

Well it would maintain the mscc.co.uk domain if the club had it! However it's registered to a web design company called "Wibbly Webbly" in Keighley Yorkshire, who also own mscc.uk.

I know it was just a typo Peter but it does reinforce my earlier comment that the lack of a proper club domain name is an added irritation.

Unfortunately the "Monklands Sporting Car Club" have nabbed mscc.org.uk, the "Mariana Stamp and Coin Club" snapped up mscc.club and mscc.org redirects to "Main Street Community Church" in Frodsham Cheshire.
