Brian and others I am going to chat with Peter on this one to see if I think a National or virtual Centre for MSCC is a viable proposition. I have several concerns, firstly it will need support from those with vision of what it could achieve, ie. bringing Mog owners together that do not feel they fit in the local MSCC area, and that it could offer all the opportunity to attend events further afield and enrich their Morgan motoring experiences. Secondly for it to succeed it will need the support of various influential people within the MSCC committee who can see that it would enhance the club and be an opportunity to enrich it.
I intend to discuss with Peter on how it would be best approached and possibly may take up the challenge, subject to getting sufficient support, I would also include MMC in this as I would see their involvement a possible benefit to all of those that would like to participate.
I have some serious reservations in that if I did take things forward I could be setting myself up big time with some MSCC members who might see this as a step too far. But then again I am not necessarily known for running away from a challenge.

Adrian, your concept would address the concerns I have had about rejoining the club after an absence of nearly 30 years. I believe it is worth pursuing as it would be a place for many who do not feel at home in the club as it exists today. No reason why the two streams should not co exist under the umbrella of the club.

My feeling is that it's suprising any morgan owners want to be in a club at all . The Morgan is an individualistic car and the owners used to be rather individualistic too. I think, as the cars became more expensive and IBM et al paid off more and more people to get them to go away, ownership profiles changed towards people with lots of time and money to spare. So at meetings the chaps who had worked out a new way to clean the carbs using teaspoonfuls of water etc. became a minority and drifted away. I remained a member until this year but had ceased to be a good club member a few years ago for the same" lunch club, let's put our morgans in a container and ship them to South Africa and have a month's holiday" reasons. My finances are not in that league but the majority of the people at our local meetings were in this bracket. The above is NOT a criticism of the newer breed of owners, each to their own, but I think that's why there are so many disenfranchised club members. I decided that it was me that had got out of step with the club membership cohort, rather than the other way round; that I had become a poor member as I wasn't positive enough, that things change and I should move over. Like ageing really!
But of course, I love the cars and use mine everyday so to be able to access this forum is perfect for me. I can focus on the parts that interest me and don't get stuck for two hours with someone's holiday reminiscences. I wish ALL Morgan owners the best but a club situation isn't for me. This forum is so freeing, a loose affiliation, ready to help at a moment's notice, it's a great place to belong without being owned.
I hope my wording doesn't offend anyone but there it is.

I'm a member of MSCC (who are the MSSC?) , but I have found no benefits that might apply to me. However, I shall continue to support the club with my membership (particularly now that Peter has been elevated to high office) - It's not much of a cost to be honest. In terms of belonging to a Club - this is a club. I consider it to be a virtual pub and enjoy the banter along with the good advice given when needed.

Makes sense to me, Steve. My local centre (Spotmog) appears to be full of lovely people who very happily get on and organise lunches, golf trips and visits, none of which interest me but which they all seem to be very happy with.
Rather than rock their boat and upset them, it seems to be a much more sensible idea all round to just pursue a different agenda independently. We already have TalkMorgan as the unifying umbrella/parent 'organisation', and the Much Marcle meets provide for me everything that I would want from a noggin.
All we need now is a TalkMorgan bar badge! I understand your view point and similar aired by others on here, but I would ask that you consider this. We all own Morgans, MSCC has been around for quite a few years, my understanding from talking to various owners and reading on several forums is that many (not all centres) have evolved over time into what they are by the influence of the demographic of the owners. As result they tend to focus on monthly Beer and Food meets with occasional excursions elsewhere. However from my personal experience I believe that there are quite a few owners who do not sit well with this demographic for whatever reason. I also believe and know it is not necessarily young owners or those new to Morgan ownership, but there are also long term Morgan owners out there that feel the same. I would like us all to be one family under the Morgan umbrella where there is an area that may satisfy those that do not fit the local area club, but prefer to expand their Morgan experience and horizons. In fact I would suggest that some may fit in both camps and also as time passes some individuals may shift involvement. In other words I would rather enrich for the benefit of all than exclude any.

Adrian, interesting points that you make and keen to see how you can develop thes idea.im also picking up on some of the other points and particularly what Stewart said about going a.ong to so,e of the Fellmog events.
Putting it into the current context of what Morgan owners such as ourselves are looking for. We're wanting to take up the opportunity of getting out there and driving our cars and taking in some Motorsport events, car shows etc.
At the moment, if you belong to a centre it is most likely that you will go to just that centre's events and take up the odd invite to join in with another centre. Why is there not more of this crossover into other centre's? Mainly because some centre's don't have a website, others do but there is no common platform and some websites are more professional than others.
If I was wanting to go to a different part of the country for a holiday I might want to look into seeing if what events were on during the time I intended to go and then have the experience, like Stewart has had, of going to a different centre' events.
The camaraderie of TM has shown there are no geographical boundaries. If the event is right, people like Peter (Gambalunga) & Alis, Mario & others travelled thousands of miles to come to TOTH. Perhaps the new MSCC website could build on this and encourage membership of one centre to capitalise on events and possible friendships in other centres. Maybe other people already do this but I don't find in today's switched on digital world that this information is currently easily accessible with the structure of the website and centre's websites.
