It's probably a fairly thankless task Peter... you can't please all of the people all of the time. Good luck

Peter your advice to get involved in a centre is sound, but there has to be a desire for change or at least a recognition of a need there also or all suggestions will fall on deaf ears. The couple of visits I made to my nearest centre left me frustrated and not eager for more. The primary interest of its members seems to be midweek social lunches and golf. It's clearly not designed for those of us that work and I sensed a real reluctance to try anything new. It's a pity because I want to support an owners club but there appears to be no local dissatisfaction with the present.

I don't want to eat in pubs that think they're restaurants with people who are in cliquey little couples and foursomes. Tried it. Maybe in another twenty years I will better fit the profile. Now, could the 'virtual' online centre for all us misfits be TalkMorgan? I have no issue with representation into the MSCC and I like that it exists. I just don't fit the existing grass roots bit. Ps. I went as a guest to the FossilMog picnic last year and was made very welcome and met a wide spectrum of people, the only common factor amongst whom was that they were all lovely - so I guess there are local centres which are an exception.

Thanks Peter for a well thought out response. One little comment: I think it is very unprofessional to use gmail accounts for club officials. The club has, and pays for, hosting, which I am sure includes email hosting. Your email should be vicechair@mscc.uk.com and the same applies to membership, and all the other permanent positions. When there is a change in the official a simple change in the password should be all that is necessary to maintain confidentiallity. In extreme cases the email address can always be changed.

I think I might expand my 'centre' ModMog
For modernist existential Morgan owning hipsters
Non geographic , it's a state of mind
Manifesto would include:
Modern Jazz, Sartre, drinking, covert smoking of tobacco ( when women aren't looking) , silly hats.
Dress code at all times will be strictly no baseball caps unless from one of the former colonies and then and only then allowable on certain occasions

I can add a bit to that Peter, (bearing in mind my lack of IT knowledge). The mscc link e-mail was standard when I joined the committee in 2009. But there's a mailbox size limitation which has caused technical difficulties in the past and if I recall correctly also limits the size of attachments. So there has been a slow migration to GMail accounts. I've set one up for concours but so far have not bothered to switch it over.

In answer ro Stewart: Ok so let me get this right.. I'm wearing a pointy hat, my forehead tattood, armbands, badges, a ring and on top of that wheeling an Ariel square four! Should be easily spotted I would have thought. Tim, it was bad enough trying to get agreement with only 6 of us, no chance with this barmy lot, they've all been on the I reckon.. I had to quote this, it's the funniest thing I have read for a long time.

Thanks Peter. I'm sure a lot of 'inactive' members would appreciate it if a virtual centre could be incorporated.
As others have said it is not a easy task to turn around the tanker but every great journey starts with the first step.

Glad I made you laugh Bob the Train, as it happens we all pitched up and very few of us found anyone we knew.. Back to the drawing board for visual management apparel!
