For controlled power slides you'll need a much more 'locked' lsd and less rear end roll. But the rear end roll is nice most of the time and my car feels great when I rarely take it on a track at medium speeds.

Or - change the tyres - this has worked wonders on my car! The Avon ZZ5s are much grippier and predictable than the ZZ3s were.

But I fear what you really want is an old Nissan!

When the new Plus 8 emerged there was a lot of criticism, a bit like ARP4 is getting now!

SFO - Yes ARP4 is ideal for me, were it not for it's "Drag & Drop" punk accessories. Limited Edition = Limited Appeal. No doubt it will sell well, but I couldn't live with any of the detail of it, which is a huge shame because I was ready to order at Silverstone and had set up a meeting with somebody from BHM in order to set the wheels in motion.

Plus 8 was too expensive when first launched

can you not get Morgan to fit standard lights? You can also have silver wheels as an option.

interior wise, you can select muted colours.

stop making excuses smile

Not excuses......................

If it was just the lights I could deal with that, although at that price, why should I have to change the lights?

However for a company which espouses 'bespoke', the ARP4 is far removed from bespoke. It's off the peg with limited options.
I've already listed what I don't like, and it's a big list.

I'm simply not prepared to spend a load of money on a car which has so many irritating standard features.

There's no yellow or orange option for a start.

Bare aluminium door panels? That's a racer not a tourer.
Hessian carpets from IKEA? No thanks. Even the 4/4 Speedster gets real carpet (when logically it should have rubber mats).

Now you've made me start listing things (again).

It's really very simple. Bespoke should mean bespoke, and at the moment it isn't.

I'm certainly not influenced by either "limited edition" or the Cosworth name. I am interested in a practical, quick, discrete Plus 4, which at the moment MMC are not interested in building.

Well, in support of Budster, I can see where he is coming from. There was a certain arrogance in the posting he responded to and yet another post trying to justify the buying of the Plus8 to us all.

It's a great model which appeals to some Morgan owners, just as the trad chassis cars appeal to others, but do we need to constantly be reminded of what an all season car it is and how it is racking up the miles?

I know of a certain 4/4 that is quietly doing the same without any fuss!

I drove a new plus 8 at a factory day immediately after an Aero supersport thing. I definitely thought it was a fabulous car and in my view handled better than the aero. I say that as the roads were greasy and I had the aero sideways within minutes (bit embarrassing as i had the MD sitting next to me) whereas the plus 8 was well behaved. The 8 was manual tho and the aero was auto, maybe that made a difference.great cars though.
I'd have bought one but general opinion is that morgans are only for those who can't afford a Ferrari.............. (sorry Peter, couldn't resist it)

There's buying a Ferrari which is the easy bit , then there's maintaining/mending it ! Will get expensive , people don't keep them long !

I too love my bog standard 2014 4/4...not having to worry about mysterious electronics and having to hitch up to a battery conditioner to ensure starting.

My 4/4 lives outside my wooden lodge in the middle of a forest, all year with no cover and is used in all conditions, returns over 40mpg,sounds great and requires a proper driving manner..who needs mamby pampy power steering ?

Enthusiasm is one thing but arrogance is not required here in my opinion.

Rant over...feel better now

Wow! I've just worked out that if I sold my Trad plus 8, E- type and mk2 Jags I could easily afford to buy and run an Aero Plus 8...

But wait a minute, I love my Trad plus 8 and it's relative simplicity and classic lines and wouldn't even consider an Aero version.

I can understand why certain people like Morgans with computers, aircon, power steering, auto boxes etc. but we need to realise that not all trad owners 'aspire ' to the Aero Plus 8 even 'if they could afford it'.
