Hello All,
I want to take myself and morgan on a getaway for a few days and have heard good things about Northumberland as regards remote walks etc,
can anyone recommend a top quality hotel, something real, not bling,(good beer).
Thanks
Alan

A bit on the expensive side (but they will do deals if you ring in advance) is the Otterburn Castle Hotel.

A genuine castle, a bit quirky, nice rooms, good food.

PS Lovely driving country around there, every road opens out onto a new vista.

Yes.....that's one thing no one ever warns you about.....a lot of sand drifts in off the coast.

- coincidently, just got back from a very pleasant afternoon tea with my good lady at the Langley Castle which is near to Alston and about 25 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne.

The road from there to Alston and on to Penrith is fantastic - much beloved of bikers!

Hadrian's Wall and lots of driving roads quite nearby too - the coast up to Alnwick Castle or inland if you prefer.

The hotel is not cheap ( afternoon tea was £40 for two ) but the setting and ambience is superb.Lots of different rooms - in the Castle or v. nice annex and secure parking for the car.An added benefit is the very photogenic backdrop for photographing your Morgan....

Hotel details here -

Hope this helps, James

Fully endorse your views on Langley Castle. The boss and I stayed there for a couple of nights last year when touring in the 4/4. A very interesting hotel with a good restaurant. The castle is surrounded by roads just perfect for Morgans.
