An impressive CV. Although I would not fit a 5 link system to my elderly Morgan, preferring to keep it original, I am interested in engineering developments such as the Mulfab and the Suplex system. I'm still not sure why the Mulfab (bolt on) system has not taken off given the obvious quality of the engineering especially as there seems to be interest on TM from prospective buyers of such a system.

I am an enormous fan of Mulfab stuff, I have their brake conversion, reaction bars, radiator, catch tank, Panhard rod, and anti-tramp bars on my car, and I really don't want to be appear to be critical in any way of Peter or Simon, they do fantastic work. But it definitely seems to be a company run by engineers, and I think sometimes perhaps they haven't had the chance to put as much time into marketing their products as they obviously dedicate to developing them - there's no mention of their rear suspension system on their website, for example, just a small 3D CAD drawing. So perhaps it hasn't become quite as widely known about as it deserves? Maybe it's still early days in the development cycle? I'm sure if more people knew more about the system they'd be keen to buy it.

The rear suspension was advertised 5 odd years ago, in conjunction with the Librands wishbone kit. I designed the wishbone kit, or at least made it work form the original designs...although Ive improved it since it was first advertised We had no interest at the time although we had a working driveable prototype, and so it was put on the backburner.

As much as a front wishbone setup would desirable, I suspect that the cost has put many interested people off. Unless starting from scratch with an accident damaged car, I suspect it just isn't a feasible proposition to ditch a perfectly good sliding pillar front end.

Let's face it guys, Morgan should have converted to front, maintenance free, wishbones at least 40 years ago. There would have been no angst about the "update" in those days and would now be seen as traditional by all except flatrad owners. Regarding rear leaf springs it is worth observing that most light vehicles that still use live axles have long since abandoned leaf springs for coils.
The rapid sale of the ARP4s and the interest in this topic (5 link rear suspension) shows that new buyers and many existing owners are happy to leave some traditions behind if it means an improvement in comfort and handling.

Prediction Time! Over the next 5 years MMC will develop s new, low cost version of the expensive Aero Tub with wishbone front and either full IRS or live axle with multi link suspension. The engines and electronics will all be from BMW, the cars will be offered with Trad and Aero bodywork with engines of 3, 4 and 6 cylinders. The 4/4 will continue as a true trad, known as the 3/4 (or is that 4/3?), with the BMW 3 cylinder engine long as people will buy it.... Or perhaps not!

Am I right in thinking that Williams sold you extensively modified car a few years ago, including the multi link rear suspension?

I believe so. I saw that Roadster at Mulfab when I visited a year or two ago while it was still under development and the rear end was impressive. As always though costing is critical and many owners are happy with the basic set up. I wouldn't change my Roadster simply because I love it as it is - with the six leaf set up.
