I liked the big Volvos too. Dad wasn't overly impressed with me driving his 240 Estates sideways though...

Like shot 3 with the bonnet belt making that lifting hook. It took me a while to understand what it was Actually I'm not exactly sure, but I use it because of two reasons: Firstly it keeps the buckle from scratching the paint and secondly I get a few extra inches of belt just in case and the 'hook' keeps it from flapping. Have I missed something? Regarding the big Volvos - 24X,74X-series. They are still very popular among younger drivers; I believe their sliding capabilities are one big reason for that

I love those Volvos too , I was given an old 144 when the owner gave up driving , it was one of the most entertaining cars I have ever driven and cost nothing to run .

I joined Volvo prior to 850 launch and my first company car was a 940, within months I had bought SWMBO a 760 and then after a couple of 850's I had a company 960. When the V70's and XC's arrived I had several of those (we changed cars at least twice a year in training) but nothing was as useful or as nice to drive as the 945 LPT I bought to replace the wife's 760. I loved my V70R for its speed but nothing matched the 'drive all day' comfort of that 945.

Agreed Colin,
I had a 745 , followed by a 945 LPT "Wentworth" , finally a 945 GLE with 2.3 LPT, and now I am back in the camp once again with a V70 2.4.
I never liked the 745 , but as you say the 945 was a delight. The V70 is good but I too hanker after my 945 , the first car I ever had with full leather interior.
