Off to B&Q via somewhere. 30 or so fun packed miles. Grin grin
Last Monday I drove to Winslow for the Lions Wheels at Winslow. Hood up in the pouring rain. The car ran beautifully but the hood rail dripped. A bit of adjustment on the catches & no drips on the way home. Mr Morgan's easy up hood is pants compared to Simmonds. I wonder why after over 100 years the factory can't make a hood that works?

Enjoyed Morgans at Windermere. Stopped in Chester on way up and back. No rain to shout about and some great drives. Sunday night we ended by driving West back towards Crooklands into a stunning sunset. We had stopped earlier at Hartside Top cafe...highest cafe in England after an awesome drive up to it. Already rebooked hotel for next year.

Thursday - Cirencester for a photoshoot with a very nice man and let him have a go in the Coupe. Seemed to like it !
We pulled into a small village to take a few photos down a quiet road. As we turned around at the end there was a modern M3W in the garage facing us - what is the chance of that !
Coming home I followed a lovely red trad down the A34 south of Newbury with a Pelican on the back and the inside FULL so must have been off for a long run.
Tuesday/Wednesday was collecting a US colleague from Heathrow Airport and going to several meetings with him. Totally blew his mind. We parked outside Wembley for a meeting we had there and the car park attendant made a special space right next to the hut.
They generate love everywhere they go.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Thursday - Coventry and back for a MSCC Committee meeting.
7am start, hammer up the A34 / M40 / A46 with a brief stip to put the roof up just before joining the M40, the rain was light but on a Motorway I don't want to have to stop to put the roof up. At the services near Gaydon I stopped to put the roof down, have a coffee and a "bio-break" as my US colleagues ut it. Arrived nicely in time for a 10 am meeting. 147 miles.
6pm start for the return, hood down, none stop, back at 8:40pm.
Great day: I just love the look of confusion when TT drivers see this "old" car blatting past at, err, well, a "good speed" in the outside lane. Yes, the Plus 8 is as competent a long distance modern car as any TT, and a lot, mot more fun!
Yes, it isn't perfect, hood up it is noisy at speed and hood down it is, even with the heater and heated seats, a bit chilly once the temperature falls to about 10C. Wind chill is the main issue.
All in all 288 miles in 5.25 hours so an average of 55mph, used about 42L fuel. So 30mpg, not that it matters much.
An interesting reflection on the changes in our motorway network over the last 30 years. In the 1980s I used to work on the basis I could average 60mph on a long, mostly Motorway run. Now it is hard to better 50.
