My understanding is that this further shift to the left will make Labour unelectable.
It's interesting that some supporters like Ken Livingstone and Diane Abbot completly refuse to accept this despite all the analysis to the contrary.
If they can keep the red flag flying for another five years it will be interesting to see what happens.

We need a strong opposition for good government.
Can't wait to see PMQ with Corbyn!

That is a worry....for all liberals. Liberals didn't do too well either.. .......however and seriously.....I totally agree that a good and balanced opposition is necessary for good government. The Lib Dems did that well in the last coalition... Any monopoly can end up a like a dictatorship without a realistic opposition...

Corbyns leadership is In my view more a product of a social reaction and not a political reaction
I don't think it is deeply routed to any political agenda or strategy
It's an anti establishment and an anti-political protest from new and old party members kicking against the reformed Party of the late 90's by career driven politicians
it is very interesting particularly if it comes to a general election and Corbyn is seen as an anti-establishment hero figure
Farage polled 4 million votes so what could Corbyn do with a loyal labour following on top
I still think it won't go very far and the press will crucify him and may strengthen the Conservatives but you just never know
Corbyn was 1/200 to win when first announced for the leadership campaign

Absolutely agree with you Stewart. Threat to national security says David Cameron. More like a threat to national sanity. And now they've announced Angela Eagle has joined the cabinet - oh dear.

If Corbyn is the best the Labour party has then David Cameron and party have nothing to worry about for the next 20 years I don't think that this is at all a safe assumption. The Tory party is made up of essentially 3 different groups; the Ukip leaning, anti Europe swivel eyed loons, the ones who above all believe in a small state & to hell with all the vulnerable in society, and the wishy washy one nation Tories (such as me). The glue which holds these strands together is a shared fear of the barbarians at the gate (Labour). Take that away and there is every reason to believe that in time the Tory party is just as likely to split apart as the Labour party now is. Personally I'm appalled by the election of Jeremy Corbyn. It's far better that our parties of government should be centrist parties rather than too politically polarized.
