I had protective film fitted. No chips in 2000 miles. Check out my thread on the subject. I dare not mention the supplier! Bump!

Have the factory fitted 3m film and it works well. In France earlier this year there was a dead straight road that had been 'resurfaced' with stone chippings and a 50kph speed limit that everyone was keeping to apart from an articulated Lorry coming towards me who must have been travelling at more than twice that. I first saw what looked like a cloud in the distance and when we met, even though I slowed down even more, there was a hail storm of chippings that splattered the car and convinced me that blood had been drawn as several hit my head. Apart from one minor mark on the right wing there was no sign of damage where the film was. The bonnet and area under the screen were not so fortunate but Chipex has done a good job there and I am grateful the windscreen didn't go.

When I bought the 4 seat in 2008 I got Allon Whites to fit the film, when I sold the car the film was quite rough in a couple of places with stone damage but the paint underneath was unmarked, well worth doing.

We had a windscreen hit by a golfball sized stone in Cornwall under similar circumstances. Morally one should be able to claim for the lorry's insurance, but first you would have to turn round and chase him, and second now that I am nearly 70 I would think twice about taking on a lorry driver.
Thank goodness I have insurance cover for the screen.
Stone chips: we have a few and I keep thinking that I will apply some Chipex after the next trip. A bit like tomorrow, "after the next trip" never comes.

I had a film fitted by Williams from Covertech ( I think it is 3M ) now done 5000 + miles and a few dents in the film but no paint damage. At first I thought it was quite expensive but I now consider it money well spent.

I do think that the 3M type protective films have merit - and I am looking into this for the when the Roadster arrives.
Errrr.......have you kept this quiet....or have I just missed the announcement?!!

Sorry Jays. I do not have the car yet ...hopefully next week ...so it's a bit premature.
My plan was to keep my beloved 4/4 for another year.
Then over a few weeks I made the mistake of just scouring web sites to " see what might be available".
This turned into the next step..." No harm in looking..".
Oh oh ...next thing a test drive.
Then of course hooked.
Then it's the .."I can justify that"...and over the edge of the cliff I go!
It's a 2013 Roadster from Newtown Morgan ...still on their web site so do have a look.
If anyone knows that it's a wrong un ...please keep it to yourself..as I hope not! Will post pics ..if my son can help me ..when I get the car.
