I have had my 2015 3 wheeler since Jan and have clocked up 2200 very enjoyable miles. I was aware from reading these excellent forum posts that noise from the rear was due to a worn aluminium sprocket.

I contacted my supplying dealer with an emailed photo of the worn sprocket teeth who expressed surprise at the wear as he hadn't seen it before... ( despite having sold over 30 - seemed very odd to me). Anyway i waited several weeks for a follow up response from my suppling dealer which was promised but didn't come.

Disappointed to say the least in such a poor level of service and quite down-hearted having spent so much hard-earned cash.

On the recommendation of another forum member i contacted Bell and Colvill with the same photo - to my surprise, despite them not being the supplying dealer, they managed to get warranty approval from the factory within 24 hours for a new upgraded steel sprocket. It has taken some weeks to arrive but it was fitted last week and the car feels and sounds much better as a result. Their service dept know their Morgans despite them being quite "new" to the brand.

I cannot fault Bell and Colvill and do wish i had purchased the car from them in the first place as opposed to to a dealer who i wrongly assumed knew the cars inside-out.

Morgan also should be congratulated for their response to my claim without quibble. The factory even contacted me directly to advise of the parts delay. How it should be done and has resulted in a very happy Morgan customer.

I bought my 8 from B&C... whilst they don't have a long Morgan heritage, they have a long 'mechanical' one and are highly respected.

They're a good team down there and have always made me feel most welcome.

Andy my 2013 car has 6400 miles on it & I have been chasing a new sprocket since June around a 1000 miles ago. After agreeing it needs changing Morgan expected me to pay 50% of part costs. I argued against this but still dont know if they expect me to pay. Parts were on back order till September & my dealer told me parts were expected 2 weeks ago but I have heard nothing .

Morgan do not seem supply parts in order request received. Some dealers seem to have more clout & get better service for their customers.

Hi Tim,

Is your car outside of the warranty period?

I had fully expected to pay "extra" as the steel version is in effect an "upgraded" part but was delighted not to have had too as its still covered under the 30 month warranty.

Its a bit harsh if you have to pay towards it but in the great scheme of things worth doing.........

It strikes me it helps to have a good dealer on your side.
