Hi, just in the process of ordering a new Plus 8, so read Howard's comments with interest. I have been quoted twice the cost for insurance from my current 3.7 Roadster by Headley Ins. Who else is worth a try ? Thanks for your help.

I pay £540 for the plus 8 and the aero 8 on a combined policy with Boncaster. However I had to pay £1200 for the first year which I never really understood other than the plus 8 was a new car 2012 and it was misunderstood by the underwriters.

Gotte and Wynne I think it is. I moved from Headley, when the cost rocketed, to Gott & Wynne and would highly recommend them. Absolutely no connection other than a satisfied customer. Worthers

When I first bought a +8 in 2002 I rang Headley, not very impressed with their answering, no one was available, someone will ring you back. They never did so I rang again the next day and the first question (literally the first question) was what is your postcode? They then proceeded to tell me we live in a high crime area (we don't) and the premium would reflect that.....they quoted and it was very expensive. I rang Gott and Wynne who offered the same policy with the same insurance company for nearly £200 less. Being suspicious I got my brother to ring Headley a few days later and also enquire as if he was considering buying the same new +8 but he used the postcode the other side of town where I used to work........same story about it being a high crime area and again a very high (the same in fact) quote. I have been with Gott and Wynne ever since, only had 2 windscreen claims and both were paid up before the credit card statement came in! Superb helpful and friendly people at G&W.

Interesting comments. If I could offer a tip - in return for some comments on the Plus 8 from owners thereof.
I did the IAM on my bike as a way of keeping me out of a ditch. Didnt work quite that way as it happened but it has been great at insurance savings. The deal with IAM Surety insurance, is that they will match the lowest quote you can get from a comparison site however daft that is. And they do it with a decent company with good cover. So my bike costs me < £100 fully comp with just 3 years NCB and the same sort of deal is available on all the family cars. I have to admit I dont use it on the Lotus because they dont do track day cover but I do do so on the family snotter. So do the IAM - good fun in fact ( speeds up your riding / driving) and saves you money too. Win win.
So now to the repayment - how do you find the plus 8 in real life? I'm in danger of making a decision. Plus 8 or 430? Suspend disbelief you cynics!
