If you are patient.....it would help as you can start saving up.....there will be some 1/8th scale models of the 4/4 and Plus 4 hitting the market at some stage.
A Belgium couple brought a couple of prototype ones into the factory a couple of weeks ago for us to have a look at. As prototypes they needed a bit of work on the dimensions but should look stunning when finished. They won't be cheap!
In that scale, they will be quite large, but would make a brilliant show piece. If they come as ready assembled model, they will be quite expensive, but if they come as a kit, this will help keep the price down, but they won't be cheap anyway, as you have already stated.
I am presently building a 1/4 scale model of a Honda CB750 Motorbike. (yes it's big) This all metal kit (with the exception of some non metal parts) is delivered on a monthly basis, of 4 parts every month, over a period of two years. It isn't cheap, costing £32 per month. (approx £900) But the quality of the parts, have to be seen to really appreciate, how well engineered this model really is. There is no painting to do, all metal parts come either chromed or stove enamelled in proper Honda (Metallic Red) authentic colour. Even the frame comes in stove enamelled black.
Everything just bolts or clips together just as though you were building a full size bike and it has many proper working parts such as chain driven rear wheel with proper throttle action when on stand. Full wiring loom for built in micro computer, working set of lights, working brakes and authentic engine sound when the ignition key is turned on.
Before anyone asks. It weighs 28 kilogram when completed, it cannot be ridden on by a child, there are no actual engine/gearbox working parts. It is purely just a show case model.
I have quite a long way to go yet before it will be finished, I have only been collecting it for five months and have just completed the front fork, wheel/brake disc assembly including handlebars, headlamp and indicator stalks. The model is distributed by DeAgostini and there is also a model of a Harley Davidson Fat Boy, but this model costs slightly more at £36 per month.
