I thought the design life of a jaguar landrover vehicle, quoted by themselves, being 10 years was very telling.

Now whats the design life of a Morgan?

Just watched last night's episode which I generally enjoyed sos till to see tonight's episode.

I would speculate that the average life expectancy of a Morgan is way in excess of JLR and most other manufacturers?

Watched Part 1 this evening as part 2 was recording.

Superficially interesting, the MMC bit was far too short. The rest was rather too much a commercial for the BMW Mini. Not sure if I'll bother with Part 2.

1000 Minis a day? that is over 300,000 a year. Where on earth do they go?

I served my apprenticeship in the Swindon plant from '62 to '68 and life was a lot different - sparks every where. I see now that there is no job for the pattern makers who made the reference forms for the panels. I wish you grumps would lay off James May, I think that he is a good presenter.

Download IPVanish (others are availbale) - small annual fee you can log on via a VPN to "appear" anywhere. So you can watch (and download) iPlayer programs, etc. etc.

I missed Pt1 and forced the wife to sit through pt2. It had its moments - Ant is IMHO a really good car show presenter, you kind of know that he knows his stuff, he doesn't try to be overly witty and he is natural when talking about stuff instead of it being nerdy/geeky or forced.

The spraying robots were hypnotic and the stats about the Mini unbelievable. "Steve" stole the show with his "invented that line" - which even when rolled out again and again seemed to work quite nicely. May's sexist comment "It looks heavy would you like a hand" was brilliant.

Following on from BBC2's "Population Stats" Programme (which was bloody excellent) that is the sort of TV I want to watch - not some crappy Celebrity Ice Dancing Songster rubbish.

Thanks Richard. I have used a VPN in the past (Lamnia), but I had no end of problems with it, so I gave up on it. Maybe I'll try again with a different provider.

No argument, the three of them did a really good job explaining what, to the non petrolhead, is a complex subject.

Also well done BMW, Morgan, Nissan and JLR for letting the Beeb invade.

BUT the BMW/Mini bias was a bit much, I'd have like to have seen them follow a +4, a Mini and a Rangerover through the process with a bit more focus on what is the same and what differs.

As an aside, the UK car industry is in rude health, the ownership doesn't really matter, lots of good jobs. Honda has just announced 500 new jobs in Swindon.
