So Why did the new designers bolt the engine to the transmission from with inside the transmission?

Boy Wonders!

We got a chance to get the engine/transmission assembly out of the machine last night.

Using an portable engine lift out in front of the engine,we used a 6' spanset sling double rapped around the compensator to lift the front end along a jack under the back of the transmission.
We then pulled the whole assembly forward enough so that the back of the transmission could be dropped down while lifting the front, at this point we could wiggle the assembly slowly forward and out. We had four people helping and it did come out without too much trouble once everything has been unbolt off.

The problem may not be only the clutch slave? there maybe more trouble inside the clutch assembly, there seams to be an issue with the release spring, forks and pressure plate?

Tomorrow night we will start disassembling the clutch unit to find the next surprises.

the unit seams to be a competition style unit, lightweight flywheel equals lots of heat?

more on Friday my friends

Double rapped a 6' spanset around the compensator is our front lift point using an engine lift

Transmission showing the clutch slave unit.
You can see where the brake fluid/Clutch fluid is around the inside of the bell housing.

Did the clutch slave go bad by itself or did the internal workings of the clutch plates/fork/pressure plate assembly cause this problem. We will know on Friday when we take the clutch pack apart.
