If you really want one, apply some clear protector film to the paint underneath.

Mine has minor paint damage from a belt without backing that came with the car. I replaced it with a sheep wool backed one from MMC and it's been great.
All personal taste. I'd probably not have one if one hadn't been fitted historically.

In case you were not aware , it is cosmetic - non functional.
When you remove the bonnet it comes with it !
I would not have ordered one if I had known this in advance.

I always think that any extra detail like a bonnet strap particularly on a M3W looks great
It is very in keeping with the styling age of the car
Plus I like leather so any excuse to have a nice leather strap is good

I love the look of the bonnet strap. I have the fleece lined strap and no damage to the paint work.

As nippymog says, the Three Wheeler one is just cosmetic...it is not fitted to the main body. As such, I doubt it moves about on the bonnet so unlikely to scratch the paint.
