I'm sure the engineering is excellent however I agree that the cost vs benefit wont work for many folks. Most Morgans seem to be weekend cars which go out for a trundle when the weather is nice, and of course there are exceptions but my feeling is as good as the 5 link system will no doubt be, I doubt it will be taken up by many. When Porsche moved from torsion bar suspension to a multi link rear setup on the 964 it was hailed as a vast improvement but today I doubt many people buying a classic Porsche buy a 964 over an earlier 911 because of the suspension differences.

I thought it was interesting to see Adrian's comment about reduced body roll, when I have always thought that body roll isn't a problem on our +4. I also believe that a panhard rod is of little benefit on narrow cars with leaf springs. The reason being that the shorter the rod the greater the lateral movement induced by the essentially short radius whereas the leaf springs themselves provide pretty good lateral location. However, where cars have coil springs then it is completely different ball game. I think Adrian's comment about the numbers of raging boy racers are also very true, it is many years since I gave up my National and International competition licences!
On the matter of costs the kit for a five link suspension on an MGB is currently about £1890 without fitting.

The leafspring wind up is one thing that will definitely be removed by the coil options - which can only be a good thing!

But the addition of anti tramp bars will reduce the leaf spring wind up at considerably less cost!

Anti-tramp bars made a considerable improvement on my Roadster; the prop shaft used to whack against the inside of the transmission tunnel under anything more than moderately hard acceleration.

Doesn't the Corvette still use transverse leaf springs made from carbon fibre?

It's a Morgan
Once again, It's a Morgan.
If the front suspension set up was great other manufacturers would be using it, likewise for leaf springs on the rear.
If folks want to tinker with, and "improve" their cars then great, it's a free country, crack on.
BUT………
If you want something that handles like it's on rails, buy a boxster/cayman/elise/mx2 or one of any number of other modern cars.
A 5 link rear may be an improvement but it's getting further away from the original.
The Mona Lisa would probably be better with eye brows but it just works as it is.
A morgan is a throwback to another era of motoring, it really shouldn't have survived this long. It is rubbish, it really is, bloody expensive and rubbish.
BUT……….. Great fun
Think why you bought one………….
IT'S A MORGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! DRIVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had a chat with Henry, apparently I am the first to drive this Morgan with the 5 link, it also has front Suplex, I did not realise I was the first. Anyway it has Quantum double adjustable rear shocks, for bump, and rebound. Henry suggested I tried them a little softer to see what I then thought. I will do this tomorrow ready for the drive back to Williams on Monday.
