Well, as I enter my dotage, I've shuffled the fleet to maintain the illusion of progress. I'd promised my wife that when I turned 70 I would sell the motorcycle, so my lovely Triumph sprint ST has (sigh) found a new home. Feeling a bit sorry for myself I parked my daily driver Toyota pickup and bought a 20 yr old BMW m3 with instant beneficial effect. Then someone made me an offer on my beautiful, fast, hot rod Porsche 911 and to my surprise I accepted it. Now there was only one thing I could do, buy a Morgan. After a fruitless search for a pre smog ('74 or earlier in California) plus 8 with decent wood that I could afford, I purchased what is ostensibly a '63 4/4. I say ostensibly because it sports a replacement chassis, alloy body, and did I mention, a Honda S2000 power unit and trans. Needless to say it goes like stink. The switch from Porsche to Morgan feels like leaping from the 21st century directly into the 19th while skipping the 20th entirely, but I am really enjoying the simplicity and artisan nature of the beast. As an old hot rodder I naturally see many things that need to be fettled and made right, so this winter will see a fairly significant teardown and reassembly. I'm sure to have some questions and will tap into the tribal knowledge represented on this site. Wish me luck.

You must be a pretty spry 70-year-old if you can squeeze into a 63 4/4!
The car will be a blast on country roads more than the interstates.

My warning about teardowns is that it took me six years to get my car back on the road. If you already have a fleet, then you've probably got distractions...

Welcome to TM Phil, very interested to hear your Morgan has an ST2000 engine in it. Only a week or so ago I was discussing with a Morgan friend what would be a nice engines in a Morgan and we both thought the ST2000 with gearbox would be great.

hot rodder in you! As you mentioned that you are now 70 plus I feel we have age in common aside from 4/4 Morgans, I recently
'celebrated' my 71st,...Please post pictures of your Rodster before long as I'm certain everyone here is salivating to have a peek. Ohh,...and good luck with this winter's teardown hope all goes as planned.

Welcome Phil. I know how you feel about losing your bike. Our Plus 4 is the replacement for a touring motorcycle and to tell the truth it is much more convenient when travelling in two. We have done 45,000 km since March 2012 and I can assure you that that is much more than we could have done on a bike.

Sounds like an interesting car that you have there. 240 hp in a '63 4/4 would certainly make a lively package. I'll bet it gives a few people a big surprise at the traffic light GP

Do you occasionally suffer from the "vintage sports car challenge"? This is where some idiot can't stand the idea that a vintage sports car is in front of them, or has just blown them into the weeds, and they do everything to pass you regardless of risk to life or limb.

I like the sound of your Morgan very much. I've driven an S2000 and was taken aback at the engine. I seem to remember it revving up to 9000rpm and going like stink. It should give you a lot of pleasure. Would like to see some when you can.
