I must get some of this insurance, I've been meaning to take my pet bull shopping for some new crockery for a long time.

If it was a scam, wouldn't she be selling injuries (I mean selling in the professional wrestling sense, i.e. faking/acting)?
She could be doing an impression of a Premiership footballer, getting stretchered off, but actually being ok.
Speaking about the insurance angle, one of the women said she couldn't remember who her insurer was. I found that very dubious, so I added, "you do have insurance, don't you?"
She quickly changed the subject back to blaming me, having mentioned she had details at home, but had forgotten who she was with.
Who can't remember their insurer, for crying out loud?
So my point is, I don't think it was a premeditated scam, but that one or both of them went through the motions because they were uninsured.

DMJ...I assume your car was not actually hit?
If so then it can be argued that you were not involved and so a refusal to give details is not an issue.
The old woman and ford driver are the ones who should do that to each other.
Are either of them intending to make you involved?
You might be a witness as would the Lexus driver.
Did Lexus pull over to allow oncoming traffic to pass through?
Was Lexus indicating in any way?
The bottom line is that Old Woman must only proceed past if safe to do so, and did she consider the Lexus was parked or pulled over to allow traffic through?
She made the decision to drive through. Did oncoming traffic cause her to brake sharply?
Ford driver failed to anticipate the need to stop and was either too close or not paying attention.
The timings you quote put you out of the way with enough time for Old Woman and Ford to assess the traffic and drive accordingly.
Your insurers were right to laugh!
Old woman trying to switch blame for her poor actions and Ford also doing the same...clutching at straws and " not my fault " attitude.
If nobody was injured then police would not get involved and it is a "damage only" RTC.
CCTV may be of use to insurers if they are disputing blame between Old Woman and Ford.
You, Lexus and any others would be witnesses only.
Out of curiosity, do you know if police were informed by either party?
If so then they might contact you as a potential witness.
I worked in a police ops room for several years and had many calls re similar RTC incidents, explaining most times that police themselves could not adjudicate as they arrived after the event, unless CCTV etc was available. Advice was to exchange details with the other party and inform insurers.

Re the suspicion of one being uninsured....if the other informs her insurer then they could pursue it themselves.
My advice is to forget it....
Don't get dragged into the incident other than as a potential witness IF you are contacted.

We met at Crooklands Morgans at Windermere when you were in your M3W.
Hope the drive home was good...weather was hit or miss!

DMJ, I really don't see how you are involved here. As for remembering insurance companies, I don't remember all three of mine, but I do know all three brokers, so I would deal direct with them.

They sound like they are two women who are to afraid to tell their hubbies they have banged the car, and are looking for some one to blame. Don't worry about it.

Did drive home in the 3 Wheeler. It was sunny all the way. Though when I went to Wales it poured down, which made it difficult to see, so I kept stopping.
Shortly after Windermere, my headlamp fell off! I think the Windermere damp made a poor weld rust through!
Ledgerwoods replaced it via the updated bracket, which is a far superior design.

Just a wonder! if they have had a few bumps before and have a fear of making another claim .

Maybe you are young and have just one car. But in my dotage at 70 and with three cars and a bike, I havent got a clue who they are insured with. Whats more I cant remember any of their reg numbers. And no, I havent got dementia.

But I can remember all my bank account passwords. Some things are worth remembering, others arent.
