Yes Avon CR6 ZZ's Andy.

The black rims and sidescreen frames are offensive to the eye, but somebody likes them.

The wooden dash is a veneer over the ply carcass, so it would be a replacement dash.

Dear All,

I note your comments and must admit I am very surprised and saddened by some of them.

I of course approached the Royal British Legion and have been discussing the cars and project with both the Legion and Morgan throughout.

We decided to limit the badges and ensure they could be easily removed if the new owners so desired.

The thought process? A scheme that was very period and understated with less use of chrome and stainless whilst creating the ultimate driving classic Morgan. A car to place in the centre of Manchester over Christmas in our pop up shop to collect donations in the shop for the RBL and then donate some of the proceeds from each sale to a worthy cause. We have changed the head light rings back to silver as we agree it was not quite right with the colour scheme and the black rings were just too much contrast.

We wanted to create something special and do something we believed in. I love the car, as do the majority of people in Manchester who have complimented it numerous times each day. I am sorry that we have got it so wrong in your opinions.

Please feel free to come and see the car in the flesh as we think it's stunning.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan Jarratt

Well I mostly like the colour scheme but would have gone with black wire wheels and painted dash. Interesting thread though. And just 'no' to the Evoque convertible!

Think yourself lucky. You could have been on the receiving end of this. laugh2

There's no accounting for taste.

I hope the wheels and balance weights were painted separately.

Jonathan

I wouldn't give the comments on here a second thought

If someone new to the forum came on here and posted a picture of one of your special Morgans as being their newly acquired dream car, we would all be fawning over ourselves to say how nice it was and how fabulous it looked and what a terrific specification it was

We are a, sometimes tedious, sometimes very funny, sometimes overly critical, fickle bunch

And I'm speaking for everyone else, except me innocent

Jonathan,

Thanks for the post and for explaining the rationale behind the project - it answered a number of unknowns. The car has generated quite a response, at least on TM.

At the end of the day the comments passed are' just individual opinions and everyone has one, sometimes in favour, sometimes against. Audaces fortuna iuvat' versus 'Caveat actor'.

You have commissioned two cars linked to a worthy cause and I sincerely hope you are able to raise funds for RBL in the process.

I am not sure who you discussed the project with in RBL and what their input into the car specification was, though I suspect that they would have welcomed any project that had the potential to generate contributions to their funds, and that may have blinded them to the detail or the look of the finished product as a whole, or maybe they just had different tastes and ideas, or perhaps just no concept of how the finished car might look.

Was there any thought given to specifying the cars in RBL colours? (Blue and Gold). I would have thought a blue body with a 'near to gold' stone/beige leather piped in blue and blue carpets might have been a good theme (though as I said earlier I might also have gone for 3 cars in Navy, Army and RAF colour schemes).

The selection of a narrow bodied Plus 4 is a great choice (I like them as do many others of course) but outside of the selected colour schemes, which will always be open to subjective debate, it would appear that it is the detail that has raised most eyebrows. You have addressed the headlights - could you could post photos of the 'before and after' so we can see the difference? Personally, I think putting the wording on the head restraints was a step too far, especially when you consider their origin rather than their adopted use; too high profile (though I guess easily rectified with a change of head restraints). Other items are removable or easily changed out as well.

So a bold effort from Oakmere that, for me anyway, seems to have failed to maximise it's potential; others of course will see it differently.

That said, I wish you luck with your endeavours and I hope that you reach your target in raising much needed funds for the RBL - they deserve all the help they can get.

Regards.

It seems I am a little out of tune with most of you because I love it! The wing width is spot on front and back, the Jaguar Willow Green gives it a lovely vintage look and ditto the leather. The black headlamp surrounds and embroidered headrest covers would not be my choice - easily remedied if I couldn't live with them. And the carpets, well they wouldn't stay beige for long anyway.
