Think the extra cost of the SS was substantial - wasn't it about £25k extra due to the roof section? Yes, the extra saving of the coupe (that came out later) was significant. But at least in 30 sec with the SS you can remove the roof sections and put them into the trunk (still having spaces for 2 big duffle bags and some other stuff) and you do not have to dismantle (not fold) the entire fabric roof and the soft top frame.
