Phil,
Mine were so tight that I took the car back to the dealer who also had problems un doing them. The near side rear was done up to 380lbs on their wrench. I have now fitted spinners which are far better as they look the part and, with the aid of a good Thor hammer, you can undo them with far less chance of damage to the wings.

I can concur re the MG club "spanner".
I bought one for my 4/4 and it was great, but had to be carefull of clearance to the wheel arch edge...close but not an issue if carefully
The arm part was offset to give clearance and could be bent out more if needed.
I sold it on when getting the Plus8 with alloys.

Take it easy, it's never a good idea to strain your nuts hide

I agree with fitting spinners as an alternative and was already considering this.
They look much better and I feel would add value to the car not that I'm considering selling it.
Thanks

MGOC tool is good value and works! For goodness sake don't hit anything with a hammer! Common sense. Would you like it?

Broke my humble socket spanner with a piece of pipe on the end last night , so booked in to get the big nuts loosened and changed over this afternoon at the garage I go to for servicing my Mog - looking forward to the event ! Then it will be a hammer to wack the spinners in future !

I'm quite happy with my nuts! Using the right tools seems a lot more civilised than whacking the living daylights out of spinners.. Never did like the idea.

I do admit though that spinners look better..
