...And the cost of upgrading every parking meter, ticket & vending machine, toll and supermarket trolley to accept this new coin. Priceless.

And the reason for this? One in 30 pound coins is faked - which is less dilutitive in monetary terms than Quantitative Easing has been.

So it would actually be cheaper to live with the faked coins and just accept them at banks and withdraw from circulation that way.

That new coin has the benefit of allowing a socket and torque wrench to be applied.
This will be very useful when it is the turn of one of my less generous friends to buy his round.
