Probably nothing. Its the way they are made. It wouldn't be a Morgan if it were not a bit quirky.

woohoo

Andy

PS My +8 was a b****r to fill there was a definite kink in the filler pipe that restricted flow and caused blow back which shut off the pump. New +4 is a dream by comparison but you still have to get the Knozzle in at the right andle

I am the proud owner of an Aeromax, and when I fill up it takes half an hour because the filling spout will only let in 10p at a time banghead

I understand this is not a problem of filling, like the classic Morgan problem of the petrol backflow during the filling

If you have "great difficulty getting petrol gun into filler" it's maybe an ophtalmologic problem or a more serious problem of arm shaking.

I hope it helps you

Hi,
Not had too much of a problem with getting the nozzle in (am I allowed to say that) although the luggage rack makes it impossible to get right in.

But
When I first bought the car I had real problems getting fuel in at any reasonable rate. I found the rubber was a bit perrished and the pipe was twisted ('86 4/4). I got a new one from MR and fitted it carefully without twist and can fuel with no problem - until it's full when it usually spits a bit back like a baby!

after closer inspection it appears the hole in filler cap is smaller than petrol gun nozzel. Is it possible there is some kind of spring arrangment in side filler cap. i feel pretty stupid asking ,but it takes forever to fill trying to dribble fuel into it at garage.feel free to call me stupid

Fueling a Mog must be problematic for most of us then. Our 2007 here lets you put the nozzel right in but it never works unless it is withdrawn well out again enough to prevent the automatic blow back cut off from triggering straight away. Not sure if our flip top filler is the standard one???
Then I havn't a clue when the tank is coming to full. I left a puddle of fuel on the service station floor the last time I tried to 'fill her up'. Then I was scared stiff for the next 10 miles that the exhaust pipe runs close to under the filler cap (not a good idea). So now I limit myself to a specific amount when the needle gets to just below half full. I didn't think it was possible to get a filler with anything smaller than the Unleaded pipe size aperture? coffee

The best position to fuel my Roadster is, to hold the nozzle upside down. In that position it's even possible to lock the little latch and wait until it releases automatically.

Salut,
Ivo

Gaffer.
Not sure if the 4 seat has the same filler cap as a 2 seat, but I had my 2 seat filler cap changed for the aero type. Good design with a morgan logo, it allows you to take the key out when open (no more marks on the paintwork), and resolves the old issue of refuelling - wider neck, it now goes in easily and quickly. Just have to be careful when it nears full as it will run over.
