Hi everyone. I bought my Morgan 4/4 in May 2015 and whilst I had some lovely drives in the summer and Autumn the car is now jacked up and covered in the garage for winter. There are some jobs that need attending to before the car goes back on the road not least an electrical issue that keeps running the battery down. I'm sure that with help from the people on this fantastic site I will be able to resolve any problem that may occur in the future. If there are any other Morgan owners in the Staffordshire/Derbyshire area I would love to hear from them as I'm keen to join a local club. Phil

Hello and welcome may be handy to get yourself a Ctek to charge your battery via the cigar lighter over the winter . But do not start the mog with it plugged in, one lad said it exploded . About to go out to the seaside for some fish & chips sick of Turkey and pork .

Hi Phil and welcome from down under.
What vintage is your 4/4? If it is a recent one, clocks, immobilizers etc. will drain the battery and the ECU can be quite "fussy" about starting voltages.
CTEK (other brands are available) in my experience are first class.
Look forward to hearing more about your car and adventures.

Hi Phil and welcome to Talk Morgan.
As Andrew said earlier, if you join MSCC you will automatically be invited to join the Staffordsire Centre (although you will be able to join any other local centre if better for you)

Welcome to that weird and wonderful Mogworld! I concur re the Ctech unit. Mine is used with the direct to battery leads rather than cigar lighter socket as I find it more reliable. But......why not take the car out? I tend to use mine regularly even in winter unless really bad weather or over-salted roads. The grime coats everything. I agree to MSCC route as well..a good way to meet up and your degree of involvement is up to you.

Welcome. The MSCC is a good club - they have centres in Staffs and based at Donington - they both provide runs meets etc. I live in Derby & am happy to join up with another Mog for a run out. PM me anytime

Hi Phil, welcome to TM! Also, wearing my "other hat" as Vice Chair of MSCC, yes, please do join, you will be very welcome indeed. A quick trip to the MSCC Web Site should sort you out! To the battery issues: if it is a recent-ish car then about 3 weeks without using the car = flat battery. So a trickle charger is the way to go. But as has been said, the best solution is to go out and enjoy the car. Modern Mogs don't rot and whilst a bit more TLC is needed than with a modern "econobox" I view my Mog as a year round drive. Yes, a bit of wrapping up warm is needed, but the experience is worth it.
