What a great thought provoking thread:

Disraeli Grears - Cream
Whos Next - The Who
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Bridge over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel
Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits

Sad but I still have 100's of LP's and prefer them to CD's

Worthers+8,
Nothing at all sad about the hiss and crackle of a loved LP. It is part of the sound track of our lives.
I must admit to having a sizable CD collection which are mainly played in the garage whilst fettling and looking at my Moggie. LP's are not really possible, I have tried. flag

Here for a good time not a long time!!

This is soooooo difficult. How to pick only 5 ?

1) I have to have something classical - Dido & Aeneas. The recording by the English Chamber Orchestra with Anthony Lewis conducting & Janet Baker singing Dido. Dido's lament is guaranteed to bring a tear to my eye every time.
2) BB King. Which one ? I love almost all of dear old Riley King's output. I guess it'll have to be "Completely well" as it has "the thrill is gone" on it - probably my favourite BB King song.
3) Aretha Now. An old favourite, snapped up as a secondhand bargain for 50p in my local Oxfam when I was a student . If you want soulful, it doesn't get much better than the wonderful Aretha Franklin.
4) Desmond Dekker. "The Israelites". I always loved Desmond's music & his energy, he was a wonderful man too. When he came & played at my Uni, after the gig he came into the Union bar and bought some of us students a beer. He then lectured us on how lucky we were to be getting the opportunity to study, and that we should all make the most of our good fortune.
5) Bob Marley Exodus. Again, so hard to pick which of his albums, Exodus is one of Bob's more laid back offerings, every track a classic.

Giles. Mogless in Paris.

Em.....did you ever do discos at the Halfway years ago? I think it was before Simon was there.
I remember them from my fishing days. Saturday night on the riverbank just across from the Halfway...in the dark...music carrying over the fields. Cows swaying to the beat....
It was a popular venue in the area and the carpark was full ........
There the comments end!!

Was never bothered about their subversive "we dont need no education" record, so ignored Pink Floyd for decades - refusing to add to their Ferrari collections.

Decided last year I was going to make a determined effort to like them, so downloaded their "best of" songs.

Dreadful! - half of them sound like they are on the wrong speed - I still don't get it.

Liking "Money" and "See Emily Play" - sung by Syd from the sixties but the rest are deleted.
