Alistair thanks for that. What an amazing life he must have led, another unsung hero.

My commercial flying instructor had flown Spitfires towards the end of the war and then travelled the world instructing. He taught German pilots to fly the Starfighter, not the most successful of aircraft. Regaled me many a tale in between unusual attitudes with screens up ! sick

I instruct part time out of Andrewsfield and in the summer sometimes at Clacton.
Andrewsfield is a good place to visit as it has a cafe/bar. The winter has been an issue so far - hoping for a period of dry weather as the grass runways are suffering!

Ah yes, I used to fly out of Earls Colne years ago, in the winter we used to take off and land on the taxi way. Needed to get that right !

I'll contact you when it dries up a bit.

I had lunch with a friend of mine who keeps his Jodel at a grass field near Pershore. It's been waterlogged for weeks and doesn't anticipate being able to fly the plane for the next couple of months!

I started flying at earls colne and remember using the taxi way to take off in winter too. No problems now with their hard runway!
Looks like we may have a spell of cold drier weather coming so hopefully everyone affected can get back into the air.
