Driving a M3W is only bettered by driving one in a group of other M3W's
A "Squadron" 😊 The "Mitten State" does have a high concentration of M3W's considering our harsh weather, and horrible roads!

If you're accustomed to open vehicles, like the MX5 or a Harley one of the major features (of being out in the open) won't be as novel and distracting (I've had an Alfa Spider since '89)....which is both good and bad: Good, b/c you can focus on how nice a car it is...it's very responsive and you're connected to both the machine and the road in ways unlike the other toys in your collection. Bad, b/c I'm sure a lot of the first impressions you've heard of the car are based on it being open...which won't be such a big deal for you.
Make sure you glance over and watch those front wheels undulate, and how nice the gear box feels, and how deep and mellow the engine sounds, an S & S is like a Harley chick without the tattoos...
I cannot imagine anyone who doesn't need Viagra not loving this car, regardless of their automotive frame of reference.
And remember to breathe...

Yes it will meld my love for vintage Harleys, antique cars, and open aired motoring all into one, and I hope my better half will be as excited as I am. We have both, about a year apart, had rides in a M3W, but this will be different, the real test drive. All is set for 9am tomorrow, and I barely slept last night, and me 53 years old, isn't that hilarious! it's like a first date!

Yes, the M3W IS Viagra, and like a beautiful woman when it works its the greatest thing that can happen, and when it doesn't---sigh!

For me, it had nothing to do with "openness". I do more miles on bikes than cars, and after a fifteen minute test drive in an M3W I gave my deposit without any reservations. For me, it's not the openness, but the PURENESS of the driving experience... 95% of what you experience on a bike depending on the bike of course. It's 95% of my BMW R9T which is a pretty pure experience in and of itself. The M3W is actually a purer experience than...I dunno...a Honda Goldwing which is about as impure as a Honda Civic on two wheels. The magic of the M3W, for me, is the visceral experience of seeing the front wheels, the bark of the engine, the vibration, the connection to the road. I'd rather drive an M3W that a Ferrari, a Bugatti... Mine started being assembled yesterday!

It's a great experience and one that I want to repeat
I drove the Pop Bang 3 wheeler around Malvern earlier this year
The experience would have been much better if the pedal box was properly adjusted to my height and driving position as I was having to slouch down in the chair to depress the clutch and I crunched a few gears
Less to go through next time I suppose!
Enjoy

There's something very visceral about the desire one has for the M3W...which is either there or it's not, obviously around these parts it's the former. It really is the ultimate driving machine, a car for folks who appreciate the actual mechanics of both the machine and the experience. Bring sun glasses or other eye protection, and remember to rev it past 4000 RPM. And maybe tell your partner that what you need here isn't so much honesty, but their opinion of your reaction to the car. And remember to breathe... Have fun and make sure to give us all the details.

I think the hardest thing to get used to on your first drive is judging the width. If unsure your wife can help by letting you know how much space you have passing parked cars etc. The indicators, they cancel just at the crucial moment! You will get used to this but they are a pain at first. The revs/suitable gear to pull away at low speeds. Get it wrong and the compensator will let you know! Although its a big engine with plenty of torque at first always bang into first gear when slowing down before pulling away from junctions/roundabouts and use more revs than you think you need. After many miles you will get a better clutch/revs control and be able to pull away in second from a slow speed but I wouldn't recommend it on first drive. There is a knack. The most important thing to consider on your test drive is that you BOTH like it. The car is great out on your own however far more fulfilling if you can share the fun with your wife. Good luck and have a great time.
