I really don't see me posing, on a catwalk, in front of a camera or anywhere...

Dan White of Suplex, a keen Morganista, designed the first 4 leaf springs and has since designed a new "anti-tramp" asymmetrical 4 leaf spring. Suplex do not make leaf springs and the asymmetrical spings are made by a UK company that I have heard does good work. Apparently this same company now makes the springs for Morgan.
Morgan went through several spring suppliers of varying quality springs due to suppliers going out of business and other problems. My understanding is that the springs presently used by the factory are of a much better quality than those originally fitted to my 2012 car.
Because of some correspondence I have had in the last few days I know that Williams have the "anti-tramp" asymmetrical springs in stock.

Really enjoyed it. Just think what the Morgan Accessory Catalog would have looked like if selected TM Members had been used as models, instead of the two skinny kids that got from an agency....

Trying to get this thread back on track.... The springs are but one part of the rear suspension equation. The shocks are equally important. I spent a lot of time and effort back in the 2000s trying to improve the suspension on the then new Triumph Bonneville and came to the conclusion that they must work in harmony together, be appropriate for the load and use. A multi link system at least ties the position of everything better than the leaf springs. Then the spring characteristics and damper capacity need to be matched to the load and use. So what works with a driver like Henry Williams on the track will not be ideal on the road with two large people and a load of luggage. The BIG advantage of the any multi link system is that it uses coil over units and provided one is willing to spend the money the spring and shock can be set up for the driver and the main use. It is also relatively easy to change the two parts. Mind you, the Plus 8 already has quite a sophisticated multi link rear suspension...comfortable and effective...

The 5L Suplex system is available with two types of dampers.
The base system uses a non adjustable Bilstein damper which has been selected, tested, re-valved, tested again, and so on, to achieve the desired damping characteristics with two passengers and zero to moderate luggage loads. This would suit most people and once installed would not require any adjustment.
The alternative is fitted with Quantum adjustable dampers. The lowest setting is more or less equivalent to the Bilsteins but if one prefers a firmer ride or is carrying a lot of luggage the damping can be increased.
Both systems have adjustable preload/ride height. Obviously with the very limited travel available on the trad Morgan, because the chassis passes under the axle, this can only be set over a narrow range.
The entire 5L system has been optimised for use with the Suplex front suspension system and dampers and an adjustable Quantum damper is now available for the front. I have decided to stay with the Bilstein front damper.
