The J.A.P. name is owned by the Card brothers. Dave Card builds the engines, but they also licence the build to Cameron Racing Engines, and my understanding is that Cameron pays the Card brothers a licence fee each they, Cameron produce one.

Les Card told me the above, and maybe Les has licensed Krazy Horse to use the J.A.P. name. Dave and Les' father owned the full rights to J.A.P. and he died a few years ago. Les Card bought out a three wheeler company called the Ellipse and produced a few. I drove one at Blyton Park with a "dog eared" J.A.P. engine bolted to a Ford Type 9 gearbox...it drove very well and sounded superb. These engines are between £10-£12K each whilst the S&S is around £7K from memory.

I don't think there is a four valve cylinder head GLLOQ. The rocker cover is just a bit of "badge engineering", only cosmetic. I would say the Urban Cooling Kit would require some modification if these covers were fitted.

merlin123, is the foreground 3 wheeler the one you're referring to? Without seeing the back end it's hard to tell if it's an Ellipse or not. The other is a Triking of course. Ellipse and J.A.P. also seem to have an association with the "Planet" company.

Just answered my own question. According to Elvis Payne writing in "The A-Z of Three Wheelers," after the 2012 death of one of the Ellipse designers, Alan Pitcairn, Planet Engineering was taken over by J.A. Prestwich and the 3 wheeler was renamed the "Japster." The photo is another angle from the same shoot that is in the book.

I don't know if anyone else remembers this article in the Daily Telegraph which compares all the 3-wheeler's currently available in the UK at the end of 2012. The Japster and Triking are featured as well as the M3W.

A link - Where can I buy British V-Twins? giving the convoluted story of who's doing what with V-twins? confused2

That's a charitable way of putting it. It looks like the designers so admired the various protuberances that Triking added to the clean beetleback curves that they thought more protrusion would be even better.

I have emsiled Krazy Horse a couple times through their website with no response... Hopefully they release at least an appearance kit i can get in the states... It seems they will miss a lot of sales if they dont do these with a "retrofit" option...

I spoke to Stewart at KH last month. The J A P face lift is available in black as well. Unless they have changed their minds, its only available on new builds.
