Am really looking forward to Steve Morris open mic session on Sat. Particularly questions about the ARP4 suspension being cascaded down the Trad range.

Particularly questions about the ARP4 suspension being cascaded down the Trad range. That's an interesting question but has the potential to add how much? to an already very expensive car. It's only when you dissect the price list that you see the huge cost of adding extras such as stainless wheels (£1,356.00), or mohair hood pack (£1.644.00). The big question of course is for those on a budget - is it worth staying with painted wheels and PVC hood to get the 5 link suspension? The other thing running through my head is that four painted wheels are a no cost option. With a bit extra for a spare. Stainless wheels are £1356.00. So not having the stainless wheel option provides a big bag of money towards having a set of Turrino aluminium wires at, lets say £4250.00. They would go well with the 5 link rear suspension by saving some weight. So should the five link become an option before I make the leap of faith - it will be a very tough call. I'm not sure that a stripped out basic car with a five link rear is what I want. I'm a tourer, not a racer!

But will MMC choose the ARP4 version or the Suplex one? Cheers John

Dave....as you know, I've always been a traditionalist as far as chassis and suspension are concerned, but now having driven the ARP4 twice, I'd happily embrace the new suspension.......if it was a reasonable price option. Notwithstanding handling improvement, the comfort improvement alone in my view is worth it. It does however highlight any problems with the front end so that would need to be set up properly.

Yes, I suspect though that this could be a £5k option which would put the Plus 4 with a decent spec, well over £50k. That's a zone I don't want to enter badly enough for more comfort........
So we'll see. Sometimes surprising things happen!

I'm guessing that the factory will be somewhat influenced by the price of the Suplex kit, which as Dave says is around £5k, however that price includes the fitting, which of course means time taken removing the original cart springs etc, whereas the factory will fit their 5 link setup from scratch whilst in build, which could save some money and to ensure that customers don't go for the Suplex setup, there may be a considerable saving of a few thousand pounds.
My feeling is that they will put around £2000 - £3000 onto the price of a trad. trad. [if you see what I mean?]
The ARp4 starts looking like slightly better value for money once one start factoring in all the serious stuff it has, rather than the bits designed by Jon Wells [or his apprentice], like the boxweave carpet and burnished tunnel top, or am I being a touch hard, and Jon did the rear suspension as well?
