I happen to know the author (Donald Stevens) of "Bluebird CN7" a book depicting Donald Campbells attempts on the Land Speed Record.

Highly recommended, not only as a good read , but as an insight into the early days of emerging technologies , like composite construction and head up displays.

Don't tell the author but I am happy to lend this to interested TMers.

Snap we used to stay in a B&B in the lakes and on a wall was 3 photos of Bluebird as it was on the water at the point of lifting and two in the air . I offered to purchase them but she said no .

As per JTL's post there is a very good Bluebird exhibition at the Lakeland Motor Museum with the history of land and water speed attempts. The Bluebird Café at Coniston as per Jays post is a good place to stop for a bite to eat and has been totally refurbished since it got flooded a few years ago.
