Finally, after carefully driving through the Somme battlefield recreation which passes for a new housing development, I reached the road and enjoyed a spirited drive for an hour this afternoon on reasonably dry roads. Everything works fine, so now hoping for half decent weather on Saturday. Forlorn hope, I think.

Frustrated, as doing a small bodywork repair at the moment, so the 4/4 stays in my garage until complete. Strange problem: There had always been a small paint run just below the passenger door. However in recent weeks it has become obvious that there was a small amount oxidation going on in that area. I have carefully removed the paint from the area; spent some time rubbing the area down (approx. 8mm x 18mm) and have now applied 2 coats of zinc primer. Next is to rub down again (800 grit) before applying the finish coats over the next few days. The aluminium had oxidised and scabbed in the effected area, this was midway between the beading and the sill. The only explanation I can think of is that there is damage under the wing that although not visible made the alloy porous so salty water got under the paint, with the result you discovered. But it does seem very improbable...I just can't think of any other explanation!

When I looked at a 2011 Super Sport last summer it had blistering right in the corner off the B post and running board . Have seen others too . I thought it was a repaint job?
