I ordered the AR without doorhandels, askt for the old hood, no way was the answer and ask for the trad handbrake but again NO WAY as answer, but no problem i also like it with the new stuf

[for my2c, I guess the Aero range lets Morgan explore newer technologies, which can then trickle down to the classics, at a relaxed pace. Often the driver will be safety & emissions regulations, rather than customers, so maybe the changes are inevitable and Morgan's challenge is to change as littel as possible, while manufacturing cars that are legal to sell]

I agree with Hamwich that changes that improve speed, handling, and braking are good. Reliability is also important to me. Other changes should be avoided if possible.

Morgan is a niche car-maker and currently dominates the market for traditional roadsters. In my opinion it is not enough for a Morgan to have "retro" styling, but it has to deliver a road experience that is different from a modern car. Otherwise, the Miata is a wonderful sports car that costs half as much as a trad. The Aero is even more mismatched.

(I never use the word "Retro" describe my Morgan, but most of the compliments I get on the street seem to include it.)

It's interesting that many of us will view our cars through rose tinted glasses and forgive them for their shortcomings compared to a modern car. Its the same with other makes. I loved all the Defenders I have owned but they were quite crude compared to, say my Discovery. I have owned my Series 1 LR for years, its slow, noisy and uncomfortable on all except short trips but it has bags of charm and is a British icon and it will never be sold.

My Morgan (when it was on the road) wasn't particularly comfortable for long trips, wasn't that easy to get in and out of, got buffeted by the wind when on a fast road and a pain if you got caught by a rain storm hood up or down hence it is a fine weather car and I make no apologies for that. It has, like my Series 1 LR have bags of charm and it is again a British icon.

I have my Discovery for every day and the Porsche as a civilised sports car which I am happy to drive long distance and not worry about the weather however I like my slow bumpy uncomfortable, as they left the factory Land Rover and Morgan, I would not change them because they are like stepping back to another era, when things were simpler and the pace of life moved a bit slower, I don't want them full of modern gizmo's I have other cars for that. I like the simplicity of them and the fact that if they do break down I could probably fix it by the roadside. Not a Luddite just someone who appreciates when cars were of a more simple design.

Must admit I agree with you Fox Terrier , this near future Morgan demographic is tricky , looks like they could be heading the right way with the £6m grant for hybrid/electric Morgan development , and of course the 5L link suspension . I actually never imagined I would own one this soon , as have had to accept lower performance and cornering ability !

Stepping into a Morgan does make a slower journey more acceptable for some strange reason. I really don't crave a modern alternative. Friend at work thinks I should exchange Bumble for a new MX5. It's not going to happen until I'm incontinent and incompetent. Some might say I'm half way there............
