What was your moment of epiphany Neil?
What single thought tipped you over the edge? Not sure.... It's probably the combination of really being outdoors in Morgan in the summer - burbling along country lanes with the sides off and the 8's power and handling - a more resolved car than my Roadster. I get so much more out of the car in terms of enjoyment than I ever did out of some of my others.

I took the new Aero 8 out yesterday. The pale one featured in Miscellany this month.
The differences between the "old" +8 chassis and the S5 Aero 8 Chassis are subtle, but it is clearly optimized more as a road car. The clutch take up is MUCH more progressive than on any other Aero I've driven and the gear change is just fine.
BUT I didn't really like it.
Why?
It is a nice modern car with a few interesting characteristics, but it is a bit bland. Almost too refined... Also there is no storage space inside the cockpit. The boot is nice and works well.
I'd driven up to the factory, hood down, to allow them to check the "Aeroman Roll Bar" will fit with normal, not Tillet, seats. It will. I then drove back, 220 miles for the round trip, hood down all the way. There is something delightful about driving in the dark with the roof down.
I got home with a filthy car, but happy.
Anyway, the car goes back next week and will return with a roll bar (decorative use only) fitted.....!
So, would I swap the Plus 8 for an Aero S5? Not at all sure.

It's more desirable by being rare. It's rare because it's expensive, and for the price, unrefined compared to what else is in that price band.
So Morgan nuts get it, but most people don't get it, and that's their loss! I don't reckon there's anything this raw at this price , unless someone knows of something more mad !

I haven't driven it - but that's an interesting take and something I rather suspected. It's probably the reason I'm not overly taken with it. Obviously I hope it's a huge success for MMC - they build great cars and long may they continue to do so. But I hope they don't stray too far into 'normal'.

Interesting....
I've driven the cream Aero 8, and the factory +8 demonstrator.
They're clearly different beasts, of different temperaments.
In a perfect world, you'd saunter over to the garage, open the doors to reveal one of each, and ask yourself "which do I feel like driving today?"
Choosing to buy one doesn't make the other a bad option - just not what your mood opted for, most days..
Since most of us have to make that a long term choice.... well, whichever one chooses, there will always be moment when the other car would be the one to have.
& neither car is a bad choice.

I am one of the lucky three for this year Welcome to the our world! Colour? Auto or manual? Side or rear exhausts? Cheers.... Peter I have not picked a colour yet Peter. Gearbox was a difficult choice but Auto as I will use it for road trips and it gives a little more space in the driver footwell. I am trying to see if I can have both side and rear exhausts with a bypass valve. If not it will be rear exhaust. I will go for the Aeroman roll bar, Tillett seats, luggage rack and Cibie Oscars.

Would 8 pipes look a bit odd - like a catherine wheel? I went for rear pipes on mine as I do hope to use it (eventually) for some European and longer trips - I thought sides would be a bit strident after a while. The auto suits this big engine - I find it very easy and relaxing to drive, but I have the paddles if I need to mix it up a bit. When are you expecting delivery?

Just out of interest to this Forum....of the 4 +8s listed for sale some of which have been discussed on here... I made enquiries about a p/x with my nov 2014 4/4 .
What a surprise I was offered only 1000 pounds less than I paid for it in Nov 2014 !!!!. No names given .
Even allowing for 4/4 price increase are +8s so hard to shift?!!
Set me thinking !!!!
