Just been chatting about this.

MotorPunk magazine are inviting all M3W drivers along to an informal memorial run in St Omer in northern France on May 7th.

Sounds a great excuse to get across the water if you ask me..

More details HERE

From the Motorpunk announcement – “The smallprint: This is an event exclusively for Morgan Three Wheelers, no other marques or models should attend, please.” I can understand that M3W exclusivity is desirable, but it’s a shame.

My great-grandfather was RFC NCO groundcrew stationed in northern France. I still have his pewter-topped swagger cane bearing the RFC wings, ID bracelet, cap badge and a few other bits & pieces. The wife of the family with whom he was billeted was one of the first on the scene of Albert Ball’s crash. Rightly or wrongly she took a broken piece of the SE5 from around the cockpit edge, it was about 15in x 6in. She wrote on it to authenticate it and - knowing that my great-grandfather, like Ball, came from Nottingham - gave it to him. It was in the family for years. The ink faded badly, but was still legible under UV light. I donated the relic to the RAF Museum, Hendon, about 15 years ago – so I can’t prove any of this now.

Anyway, I’m busy on May 7. I’ll make my own way there sometime… smile

Funny that this was posted today - last night was doing a talk for local history group about Morghans & had a photo of Albert Ball - one person there said his grandfather flew with him in the same squadron during WW1.
