Hi everyone,

I am hoping to purchase an S1 Aero8 soon (this week with any luck!) so thought I would register and say hi!

I have read most of the guides and info I have found, so only have a few questions.. I hope they haven't been answered already!

- Firstly I really like the GTN Blue/Silver colours, how common (or not) are they to find on a non-GTN S1 Aero8?
Unfortunately for me I missed out on one in those colours at Allen White Sports Cars this weekend, I guess I am trying to find out if its worth waiting for another - or looking for a different colour if they are impossible to find?

- My budget is 40/50k, I have seen some reasonable cars for around 40k ish - can I ask the experts what you would expect for that sort of money? Mileage/condition etc.

- Lastly if I were to repaint the morgan to those GTN colours, would that be a big issue originality wise, or are customisations quite common?

Thanks all!
Nick

Hi Nick. The series 1 is fast becoming a collectors item so i would not not get bogged down trying to find those exact colours.Go for condition and service
average for that year would be between 30 and 50k miles you will find less and more.I personally would not change the base colour but a wing change to compliment the original whatever colour i think would be acceptable. The gtn would be 15 to 20k more but at normal fast driveing speed no difference to a standard car with sport exhausts thats the view from the factory,i was lucky enough to drive one when i bought my first S1.Good luck with your Quest its a fabulous motor no need for induction kits throttle bodies or suspension upgrades,go drive one.

Thanks for the replies, don't worry I am not into modifying cars usually, but I have to admit I did fall in love with the two tone!

There seem to be a few for sale with around 15/20k miles for 40/45k. One is a two tone green on pistonheads which looks interesting if anybody knows it?

Can't wait to get behind the wheel! smile

After about car 200 they fitted the alloy stud wheel instead of the Oz magnesium knock ons, the two tone green car on pistonheads also has the pram hood although waterproof it does sit high on the back of the car unlike the earlier cars.Hope this helps a bit.

Is the studded wheel a multispoke? I do quite like the look of the 5 spoke, esp the black ones on the GTN!

Thanks for spotting that, I didn't actually notice the pram hood - not my favourite looks wise.

Regards,
Nick

The studded wheels are bolt on with 5 bolts, not know on with the central spinner. Bolt is by far the best option.

I looked at the two tone green when it was being sold about 4 years ago, it was lovely, but I missed it by a couple of days through my indecision. The wheels are still 5 spoke magnesium, just a slightly different design. It was registered in 2005 which is very late for an S1. When I viewed it in 2012 it had 6500 miles and was spotless.

That car has the best wheels and hood.

If it's still as good as it was, you won't find better. It even featured in a book.

All the roofs are a bit pants but i like the way the plinth roof fits behind the seat and has a glass rear window i can put ours up in thirty seconds only trouble is it has a half inch gap all around the window (its a mog thing). As for the wheels if its good enough for a lemans car its good enough on mine but thats just personal choice.I had a price of 80 pound a wheel last year for powdercoating if you fancy going dark like the Gtn.I think that green car was one of the last sold at Sgt but i might be wrong almost sure it had a hard top as well.

Happy days Em

Thanks for the comments all, it did seem quite expensive the green one and I was hoping to get from a dealer - although I am not new to cars by any means I am to Morgans!

Its a hard one with regards to the colour, I can't tell if I love it or hate it haha!

Regards,
Nick

Have you thought about using a vinyl wrap rather than a repaint? That way you retain it's originality. It's been done on an Aero before - I remember seeing Boshly's black Aero with orange vinyl-wrap wings some years ago.
