Pretty crazy since you could custom order one with full warranty and current improvements for less.

Um... i disagree, I would like to see your figures.
According to the new price list.
Base Vehicle, 26500
Bright pack 2329.17
Black Shld. 208.33
Leather Choice 687.50
Quilted 245.83
Non-Std. Paint 650.00
Mohair Tonneau 258.33
Build Book 295.00
Headlight mesh 45.00
_____________________________

that's 28889.99 x 1.4(exchange rate to dollars)
or 40445.98 plus the shipping and duty of 7500
that's 47945.98
Now you may say that's AWEFULLY CLOSE, BUT AT THE MOMENT THE POUND IS AT A HISTORIC LOW!
if we re-crunch the numbers with the multiplier the dealerships use (1.6) we get 46239.98 +7500 or 53739.98!
Plus you have to wait 6 months...

Sure you can pay more.
Here the auction was for a used 2013 M3W, that was built to someone else's specifications and out of warranty or close to it. In general, the ones built in 2014 and later have various improvements built in and standardized.
Yes, it has a lot of options, but not all are to my liking. It will still have to be shipped to wherever the owner lives.
With the British pound being at an all time low, now is the time to buy a new one not a used one.
I will have a brand new, bespoke M3W (with my selected options) at my house for less than the winning BAT auction bid.
I think the winning bidder paid too much but it's only my opinion.

Mind, these are USD prices, for example, mine :

2013 Morgan 3 Wheeler Sport Grey with Muirberry Burgandy Leather, Chrome Pkg, build book, added the two ear knock-offs and headlamp stoneguards. Stripped the wheels and powder coated with a Burgandy one shade lighter than the interior. Sweated bullets to get the right color on the wheels. Grey mohair tonneau cover. I was going for a 'classic' look, used classic (standard) Morgan colors. Got in the que 04AUG12, picked up 20JUN13.

$60K USD total out of pocket: of that $15K USD in taxes, export duties, taxes, shipping, taxes, import duties, taxes, customs, taxes and sales tax ... you get the idea. spend

The new owner saved $13K ... more when you consider some MMC price increases and the current exchange rate. Although I hear the wait is only several months now ... innocent

thumbs cheers

I think this will be an ongoing issue with the used M3W market in the United States. Those that buy them first hand are at a mercy to the exchange rate. If and when the rate raises or lowers, it will make your purchase price and potential selling price look more or less attractive.

Had we been looking at suddenly spiking to 2008 exchange rate numbers, suddenly this would be a stellar price.

I ordered mine Mid-January, and my build date is Early May, and delivery 60 days after that.
