Hi hopefully someone can help me, I have a 2010 Roadster, the fuel gauge isn't playing nicely, ignition on gauge shows full tank, gauge only moves to 3/4 full after 300 km, is the problem the fuel sender? if so whats the solution, replace the sender?If so how do I find it?

Hmm. Tricky this. My gauge stays well up for a long time before falling rapidly to empty. So it could be OK. You should be able to get 300 miles on a tank so you could try this. You may feel happier carrying a can of fuel the first time you try it.
Otherwise the sender is in the top of the tank. Accessible under the spare wheel and mounting plate.

My gauge does the exact reverse to Dave's i.e. it moves quite quickly from the full mark then stays around the half full for ages but, touch wood, I haven't run dry yet.

Best advice I had when buying my first Morgan was from Phil at Allon Whites....'If the fuel gauge indicates anything it means there is something in the tank that may or may not be fuel, my advice is to rely on it in that light and use the odometer instead'....he was 100% correct and have followed his advice ever since, and that's been the same for every one I have owned.

On Aldermog this was exactly the situation, I used the odometer as a more reliable gauge. The needle would take for ever to drop to half, then fall like a stone to empty.

Strangely, on Tarka the gauge is really accurate for 80% of the content. It wanders a bit when driving over the last 20%, but stationary on a level surface it is accurate down to the last drop!
At 10L the warning light comes on and when it says 0 there is 5L left, assuming the car holds 55L. I know the fuel system is from BMW, but it is a Morgan and this level of precision isn't expected!

I can, if i'm very careful, squeeze 300 miles range, but 275 is safer.

Same here. For the last couple of years my fuel gauge had remained resolutely at zero, regardless of how much fuel was in the tank.

On my way to Scotland last year, on a long boring stretch through the 50mph section on the motorway, I thought through all the possibilities and decided that, since the only thing I hadn't looked at was the sender unit, when I got home I would remove said sender unit and have a look.

Clearly the car had been listening to me, and didn't fancy the idea of me furtling in its fuel tank, because when I stopped for fuel at Newcastle airport it sprang back to life and every since then has given a reasonable approximation of what's in the tank.

I still don't trust it, however. Much easier to fill up every 250 miles, knowing that I've got around 100 miles in reserve.

My gauge originally over indicated. This was my remedy.

Thanks guys, the gauge was fine until about a month ago and since then i,ve used the odometer, will use the "its a morgan sir" assumption and continue to drive with a big smile on my face.
