What is the generally accepted temperature rating for a thermostat in a '70 4/4 with a Kent 1600 crossflow engine. I want to replace mine but I can't find any rating on it. I don't drive it in the cold weather so I'm not worried about getting heat quickly. Also, what is the pressure rating for the radiator cap. Thanks,

Mark

According to lore, you gain a bit of power with a slightly lower rated thermostat on that engine.

If your thermostat is still working, check the opening temperature. Put it in a pot with water, heat it and check the temperature at the valve opening using a kitchen thermometer or an infrared forehead thermometer.
