Thank you guys, I was beginning to think I was unable to make a simple point in my own language. No idea what wavelength Stringers was on.

The waves, flashes and horn toots the Three wheeler gets makes me laugh out loud. I positively look for such acknowledgment and that is why I feel "guilty" if I involuntarily miss someone.

Just got to get the wife and kids to overcome that "centre of attention feeling" that they find a little uncomfortable. Undoubtedly getting better though.

This reminds me of bike rallies, especially Sturgis in South Dakota.

There are SOOOOO many bikes that it's impossible to wave at everyone. Last year there were 1.2m bikers at the 75th Sturgis Rally. If you did wave back, your arm would be out all the time. It's just become common knowledge that when in Sturgis or surrounding area, over 125 square miles by the way, that you just don't wave........... Period!

I can see that driving your M3W that with enthusiastic oncoming or just passing by people, that you would quickly grow a very tired arm.

So my suggestion is two fold.

"IF" you have time to see the wave and you can respond, do so. If you miss them I doubt it's going to depress them for the rest of the day that you did not respond.

The other option would to go to a department/clothing store and buy an arm off a mannequin and clamp it to your roll hoop on the side that oncoming traffic is on. That way they think you're always waving back.

Really though, wave when you can, but don't lose any sleep over not being able to wave back. I miss so many bikes that meet me that I just don't care if I miss a few when I ride.

As you say, you're not upset, but just feel like you're letting them down. Just drive and SMILE big so they can see you're in your glory!

I found Goldwing owners will not wave at other bikers until you own a Goldwing,Harley Davidson are the same.
I wave at most classic cars if I spot them in time.
If they don't wave back I past some comment.

Stantheman you will so get used to some negative comments.

Three waves today on a very pleasant circumnavigation of Bredon Hill. One smart red MGA, one red trad, and a P1800.

Happens all the time for me. Got used to it and live guilt free. One time someone waved at me and they were old friends and I did not wave back. On that particular section of road one would be insane to take a hand off the wheel to wave. They were a bit miffed. I'm still alive. Enough said.

On a side note, just being a sight seer in that car has damn near killed me. She is a jealous mistress and brooks no attention from others...

I remain focused while driving.

I had stopped to let some young girls about 11 years old cross the road on a pedestrian crossing on noticing the car they stopped on the crossing and started waving so I waved back then felt guilty as they should not have stopped on the crossing and an old man waving at young children could be misinterpreted! It is rather a shame you are made to feel like this (Jimmy Saville etc ) but great to see such enthusiasm from the children when seeing a Mog!

I've read & re-read all of these posts and I like to think I'm as erudite as the next Talk Morganeer, so I'm sorry if you're so exasperated by my replies but clearly I wasn't alone.

You feel guilty for not replying to an offered wave. All I suggested was that you should raise an arm despite the oncoming waver having passed.

My wavelength is simple enough - I enjoy my car.
