Hello,
As I was driving to Blenheim on a beautiful day yesterday, I noticed something I had never seen before on my oil gauge: the dial, which usually sit somewhere around 3 bars, would sometimes go up to the 5-6 range. I checked the oil level and it seems ok.

How should I interpret this? sherlock
Is there anything wrong with this? confused2
Need I worry? scared

Kind regards,
Vladimir

Several possibilities.
It may be a sticking oil pressure relief valve.
Did your other gauges move also? If so, it's more likely to be a bad connection (usually earth) behind the dash...

Mine when cold is around the 5-6 mark when it has warmed up properly around about the 3 bar on the move, when sat still on tick over I notice it drops to about 1 and a half bar

My 2008 +4 does this all the time, normally for just a minute or two, I was told by a dealer it's not uncommon and can be considered as an electrical resistance issue, in other words not a problem.

Mine reads the same Mark, again dealer advised as long as it's above 2 Bar when at 3,000 RPM it's fine.

I fitted a oil gauge in place of the clock that came as standard (have a Mig clock so don't need two) and it reads in PSI.. around 95-100 cold and 30-40 ish idle.. not sure what that is in Bars..
