Why are the body panels painted black in the engine photo and silver in the others?

A beautiful and rare car. But I wonder where the market information came from to justify that price?

I think I'd rather spend the cash on a Max, AND an Aero Supersports. Or a handful of Trads would be more fun, as a spanner wielder. That's if I had the cash of course.

And is it correct that his car has a Jag engine (plus the power steering?)

Brian, I agree on all counts - price seems somewhat imaginative. Robert

I don't think anyone who has a sense of the Morgan tradition would deny the place Chris Lawrence ( and Jon Sprinzel's) SLR has in the scheme of things but are we really talking here about what might have been the last throw of TR development: ie wonderful peformance from an engine which started life in the Vanguard, Webers at their finest and overall great British sportcar OF THE PERIOD. if yes, then it is still ( as Mark Thatcher famously said) ' a lot of wonga' if, as a lot of rumours suggest, it has been upgraded with many modern parts, then what is the buyer buying?
Lovely motor but not for me ( my bank manager told me to say that!)

Given the prices achieved recently by historic Morgans with racing history, and the fact that this is one of the rarest (with recent invitations to Goodwood and Laguna Seca, among others) then the figure quoted, while high, does not seem particularly outrageous.

Why are the body panels painted black in the engine photo and silver in the others? It is bare aluminium. The bonnet being open for the photo cast the shadow making it look black. I saw the car today. I believe that it is the only original car of the 3 SLR's. The others are rebodied and re-chassied (so I've been told) This car also has the historic racing pedigree. I think the recent red SLR brought back from the States cost way in excess of this by the time you add the base cost to the restoration costs.
